GREAT DAY TO WALK THE BOARDWALK AND ENJOY THE BEACH! WHAT A FANTASTIC BEACH, CLEAN AND... read more
I enjoyed a quick walk on the boardwalk in a brisk/dreary October day. The shops all sell the same old and outdated looking souvenirs. It would be a food place for people watching on a day with good weather.
Noontime on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City? Big mistake. It wasn’t just hot, it was steaming! Unless you are carrying an umbrella and are slathered in sunscreen, don’t go! There is no shade and the sun was merciless and relentless!
Being from overseas I didn’t really have any expectations before I visited. However upon arrival it was almost instantly noticeable this is a seasonal location and we visited out of season. Most of the venues outside the big hotels were closed for the winter and I was shocked that everyone we met from hotel staff, police officers to other visitors told us “don’t stray from the broadwalk” due to the high chance of being the victim of crime. After being in the hotel for all of five minutes I was approached by a beggar asking for money and this seemed to be the theme for the rest of our trip especially while outside. Any of the shops that are open just sell the same low quality tat as the next.
There is a lot of potential here and the friendly and approachable staff who work at the many businesses who operate here do try and make it a positive experience for visitors. I would like to visit during the “in” season in order to see how different it actually is.
I wish they would clean up the homeless off the boardwalk somehow. Inside, other hotels and boardwalk itself is good.
..., but the dead Showboat didn't offer the best view. Neither did I enjoy the ugly gates with locks along the beach. I understand the safety concerns, but some consideration for the esthetics still would be nice. I miss the Atlantic City how it used to be...
So fun to walk up and down or cycle...great views, lots of places to visit and it is free!!! Busy as a bee on weekends.
