They got it right at this hotel. They have managed to blend old AC and new AC together and make it work. Loved the pool. And haven night club. The blackjack especially poolside with a DJ was the best. Hoping to get a poolside room next trip

Room Tip: I will admit the walls are thin. They also need more cashiers at the casino

Went to Atlantic City to see Don Rickles play and decided to stay at the Golden Nugget July 20 and 21, because of the great experience I had at the Golden Nugget’s Las Vegas property back in June. First, I learned, although their Web Site lists the Las Vegas, Laughlin, and Atlantic City properties, that is about the only thing they share in common. My Las Vegas “24 Karat Card” didn’t mean a thing in Atlantic City! Seriously? (Had I known that when I was planning the trip, I more than likely with have stayed elsewhere as Rickles was playing on the boardwalk). Take away… Don’t confuse Las Vegas with Atlantic City.

Arrived at the room, dropped my bags and settled in. What! Urine stains on the underside of the toilet seat says my travel companion! Sure enough… and to top it off a rather “suspicious hair” on the sliding frosted sliding-glass bathroom door. I’m not going to expand on the “shmutz” on the armoire drawer. We caught maid in the hall way and pointed out the offending blemishes which she promptly attended to. She was obviously appreciative that we went directly to her rather than through the front desk.

Upon turning on the bathroom shower and it took quite awhile for the hot water to get there, but once it did… Hot!... But before it reached that point, the first few minutes of water flow were spent on flushing the pipes of accumulated” brown sediment… Seems to me, management should instruct cleaning staff to “bleed the pipes” every 24 hours. And lastly… the decorative vases in the room had been used as ash trays and there was wad of gum at the bottom of one. Take away… Cleaned with carelessness.

Other miscellaneous observation. The room is equipped with a flat screen HDTV, but no HDTV service.

We decided to dine at Lillie’s before heading off to the show. Service bordered on the slow. It was almost like they knew exactly how long your patience would last. (Call it “Just in time” service) I ordered yellow tail sushi and an order of spring rolls. The yellow tail was as good as any I have had (So good I had it for lunch the next day)! The spring rolls not so much… My impression was that in the effort to be unique they tweaked the basic spring roll recipe, but not so boldly as to really depart from the basic recipe. So why bother? Oh, and please don’t serve my really good sushi meal on chipped china. At $4.50 a piece, chipped china is a distraction to an otherwise very good presentation. And lastly… watch the fruit flies. My dinner fly (only one) didn’t deter me from going to Lillie’s for lunch on Sunday. Again, good yellow tail; and one fruit fly… consistency?

Dinner at the Chart House I ordered the blackened Mahi Mahi wich should have been called “bronzed” Mahi Mahi. It was tasty but should have been seared in a hotter pan to be called “blackened.” The lobster bisque was very good but needed to be served a few degrees hotter. My companion ordered the filet mignon and when it arrived, oddly, he was asked to immediately cut into to the middle of it to see if it was done as he asked it to be. Neither he nor I have ever had the server ask that before. Take away… Good food, but not so good execution.

In summary the Golden Nugget Atlantic City is a 3 1/2 star property that comes with a 5 star price. The staff doesn’t seem to enjoy their jobs and it shows in the service. There’s little wrong with the service, but there’s nothing to marvel at either.

Golden Nuggets new look is refreshing. The employees are all very friendly. However one stood out for us during our check in at Front Desk. Victoria, a Supervisor checked us in. She was pleasant and helpful with a great sense of humor. this is the second time Victoria has helped us at the front Desk, with same results, outstanding ! She gave us pointers how to make our stay even better. Kudos to Victoria and her staff. Overall the Golden Nugget is the place to stay. All rooms have been redone, they do not have ANY smoke smell. The pool area is the best with bands across street on the water at the Deck. Casino is not too big, just big enough not to get lost. And gain, the Pool ! what a great place they created there. You can stay there all day. Thank you Victoria and Golden Nugget for having her, give her a raise !

Room Tip: If your going to the pool with kids, ask for a room on a nearby floor, such as the 6th or 7th floor...

Stayed or 2 days with my family last week. Overall, this is one of my favorite hotels in AC....I have stayed in at least 10 hotels, here. The restaurant selection is very good, the casino is smaller than many of the other hotels, but I found it to be just right. The hotel room that my husband and I had....the corner junior suite.....was great! It had fabulous views and enough room to entertain a few people for a predinner drink! My only criticism was on Friday night. A group of men had paid for a private dancer at the bar (Bar 46?). It wasn't so private though as she was dancing on the table in the middle of the bar and to top it off....took a break and galloped around the casino. Now, I don't have a problem if the this is available to people but it should be done in a more discreet way. Not everyone wants to see this.....our group was slightly uncomfortable with this. But, it wasn't the end of the world.....just really tacky and low class.

The property here is brand new updated from a previous ownership. Parking entrance is a breeze and very inviting. Location is not on the boardwalk but rather Marina front surrounded by some towering hotels nearby.
It has an open, manageable feel to it. Nice set up of a few shopping stores and an outstanding gelato/crepe/espresso area. This in addition to a strangely placed Starbucks. There is a mini game room for children.
What helps make this a spectacular place is the phenomenal restaurants; the Chart House offers beautiful views and some great seafood.;Vic & Anthonies offers some of the best steak anywhere and is our personal favorite(worth giving up the views).
The pool area is just great. There are 4 large sized hot tubs (although not hot enough) where in the middle sits a fire pit. The pool is large sized (although not warm enough) surrounded by over sized cushioned lounge chairs. The bar/restaurant by pool is surrounded by fire pits.
Gaming area is open and nice. Open live music would be a great added touch.
The boardwalk is real close by. We took the car out and parked down the street at Resorts. Show your parking stub from any casino and park free. The location a bit away from boardwalk should not be a deterrent to staying here. The beautiful clean rooms, the views, the food, the casino, the pool area all make this a great place.

Stayed here for three nights and had an enjoyable time. My first time to stay in a casino hotel complex so was taken aback by the scale of the place and the facilities available. The room was very nice with a super bathroom and great space, it was very clean and had a very nice bed. We used the buffet in the restaurant and it was excellent value with a wonderful range of food that was freshly prepared and replenished when needed. The bars were good with decent entertainment and the price of beer was reasonable. I played some of the fruit machines but I am not a gambler so I don't know about the quality of the casino. The hotel is a jitney ride away from the centre of the action, this is not a problem as they are frequent and cost $2.25 jitneyac.com

Room Tip: Go as high as possible with a view over the marina, very nice

By far the Golden Nugget is the best Hotel I have stayed in at Atlantic City! I will stay there every time I am in Atlantic City. I had a delicious salad for dinner that I would definitely recommend. Reginald Colley
