“Overall a great hotel”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

Just 5 minutes south of Rodadero we stayed in this nice small resort. Don´t expect a 5 star and a brand new resort, but we definitely recommend this hotel, both for couples and families. Very relaxed, cosy and well maintained, away from the hustle and bustle of Rodadero and Santa Marta, we enjoyed our stay here.

Positive:
Friendly staff
Great service
Great breakfast buffét
Really nice settings with cottages and pools
2 big pools, jacuzzi and kids pool.
Big bar with TV sets close to the pool
Activities, dance classes, beach volleyball etc
Excellent location right on the beach
Few beach vendors

Negative
Ugly entrance due to construction/development area (no disturbing sounds though)
Need car or take a taxi if you want to go to Rodadero or Santa Marta
Bring mosquito repellant

In general.
Don´t expect white sand and crystal clear waters anywhere apart from Parque Tayrona. Rodadero and Santa Marta is quite worn down, lots of comercial activity and not so clean beaches.

A great thing to do- but the trek is definitely an important part of the experience. I did it in 5 days and did spend a lot of time on camp, but felt it ws a good pace. Go with friends and make new ones along the way. Bring plenty of mosquito repellent!!! I went with expoturs and they were good. It was pricey at $600.000 Colombian pesos, but this seems to be the standard price for all tours. Lots of spectacular views, great pools to swim in and beautiful nature- plants, birds and butterflies!

I recently went and had a great time. I have photos and a post on my blog- http://1yearinsoledad.wordpress.com/2013/01/23/ciudad-perdida-the-lost-city/

Room Tip: The beds are way better than the hammocks!!!

This hotel is a beach resort on the Caribbean but close to the Tayrona Nationa Park which we toured. We stayed in a four unit building next to the beach and also beside a large outdoor pool, both of which we enjoyed. The breakfast area was pleasant, especially eating outdoors. The variety of food, including individually prepared egg choices, was very good. The business center offered free internet service 24 hours a day. To drive in to Santa Marta, you will need a car or other transportation.

Room Tip: I would request one of the smaller units rather than the hotel tower. We liked being at the beach.

I had room 520 located on the top floor of the main building. It had two double beds, lots of closet space and plenty of hangers. The balcony overlooked the front drive. The room was across from the elevator so there was some noise late at night. Though I didn’t use it, I was really impressed with the mini-bar and in-room snack set-up. You will never go hungry at this hotel. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of food, even entree type choices.

The room had excellent air conditioning which was very welcome in the July heat.

When you arrive, check to make sure the sliding glass door to the balcony locks and all the lights and lamps work.

The hotel is a bit isolated and if you want to shop, you can get a taxi (6000 pesos - $3.USD) to Rodadero Beach where there are some interesting shopping arcades.

We had a lovely stay here, spent most of the time pool side and drinking piña colada's from the pool bar. It was really quiet although I think we came in the low season. Don't get a massage on the beach outside the hotel as the ladies are ridiculously expensive $60US where as if you go into roderoero beach close by its around $20US. We booked our stay through Expedia as it was much cheaper than booking through the hotel itself. We intended on staying for 1 night and stayed for 4! Overall relaxing resort type stay, wish I could come back every year!

Stayed here for 3 nights over Christmas and really enjoyed it…Well appointed rooms with fresh décor, lovely bathrooms with hot water around the clock, outdoor swimming pools/private beach, patio bar, restaurants, business centre…This place has everything you would reasonably expect from a hotel of it´s category and it does everything it should to make your stay a pleasant experience. There are however lots of bugs so do bring plenty of insect repellant…! Overall a very sound choice however considering the location in Pozo Colorado (in-between El Rodadero and Santa Marta airport)…Highly recommended.
