I visited Cristal Beach on a tour whilst in Santa Marta and would definitely recommend visiting. The beach is beautiful with a natural coral reef in the area and as it is part of the National Park limits visitors each day to a maximum of 350. Other people commenting on this tour - if you got here by taxi you were most likely taken to another beach. To get here you take a bus to the national park where an entry fee is paid, you then travel onto a bay where you travel to Cristal Beach via boat. On arrival the beach is beautiful and so peaceful. I would recommend everyone visit if you go to Santa Marta

I wrote abote this beach under Negunje because they share the same entrance and road.

Basically it is a total rip off for a day trip. The taxi costs a fortune, the road is terrible. The entrance fees are totally crazy and the staff were unfriendly and arregant.
Normally I love tayrona but this was awful, I would not recommend going here, instead go to a beach past Tayrona, same thing but a lot cheaper and less hassle.

We went to Playa Cristal using a tour bus. The trip was OK and the beach is nice, but not as pretty as the beaches at El Cabo. The food is also OK, although a bit expensive for fried fish.

You can reach beach by boat from Taganga. They leave every morning around 10am. Weekdays are best to avoid crowds. All boats leave by 6pm, so if you decide to stay, which rarely anyone does, you can have the beach to yourself pretty much. If you choose to stay there are hammocks for rent which will run you about $10 per day.
