We visited Crystal Beach and it was an unforgettable experience. The beach is amazing, the food was great!!! We took the snorkeling tour and the guides were amazing.
The sand is soft and clean, there are many trees to provide shade, and the restaurant was amazing. The fish we ate was the best I'd had in a long time. When we went snorkeling, the display of wildlife was dazzling. There were dozens of tropical fish, schools of them that swam between us. We saw giant corals and the guides that took us snorkeling expertly handled everything. However, we saw another guide who found an octopus and put it on a boy's head. It was clear that the octopus wasn't enjoying it. I think there should have been more respect there. Other than that, the snorkeling experience was fantastic. I strongly recommend that you go to Cristal Beach.
However, the trip had several flaws that we can't drop. We went with Capi Tour travel agency, and it was a disappointment. At the beginning, our guide, Ramon, was charming and made us laugh. We made several interesting stops and enjoyed the beginning of our trip. We were pleased with Capi Tour at the beginning, but things started to go bad later on. Leaving Cristal Beach, we had to get onto a motorboat, and Ramon was nowhere to be seen. A guide should always be with the group, to make sure that things go smoothly, to correct mistakes, and make sure that everyone was present. Ramon had disappeared. When we got onto the motorboat, the driver found that he was missing one lifejacket. When we were purchasing the package to go to Cristal Beach, we were assured that everyone would have lifejackets.
The lifejackets that we were given were of VERY bad quality. Some couldn't be buckled, others were too loose, and they didn't seem to offer very much protection in case of emergency. One person missed the lifejacket and the driver didn't seem to care. He turned on the motor and took off, with one person missing a jacket. This is illegal, and Ramon should have been there to correct this mistake. It was only when everyone on the boat started to complain that the driver turned around, aggravated and annoyed. He said that the only solution was that the person who was missing the jacket had to get onto a separate boat. This was outrageous. Finally, we took off again, with 1 person missing a lifejacket. A man on the boat with us was kind enough to give my husband his lifejacket.
The driver of the boat had a disappointing lack of concern. He didn't care whatsoever about this, and I feel that Ramon should have been there to stop this. When we got back, the bus driver, Omar, was indifferent as well. When we complained to Ramon, he said it wasn't his problem and everything was ok in the end.
Cristal Beach is an amazing place to visit, but Capi Tour disappointed us enormously. Colombia needs to rethink how it wants its tourism to work.
