we hiked in for one day. arrived at the El Zaino gate at 8:30am, got to Cabo San Juan at 11:15. the beaches were gorgeous, the experience was exciting and adventurous, for city folks like us (from new york city)! an important tip......the trails are really not well marked. while there are only a few trails, and you are most likely to stay on the right general path, its a good idea to ask fellow hikers along the way....if your spanish is minimal like mine, just say the name of the beach that you are looking for and point....! we actually never found La Piscina. we were planning on stopping there before making a final stop at Cabo San Juan, but we just ended up at Cabo San Juan...! we never saw a turn-off for La Pisicna. Oh well! we spent the whole afternoon at Cabo San Juan, and left at 3:30. we also accidentally ended up hiking out on the horse trail, which was not our plan, but somehow we missed the turn for the trail that we took on the way in....everything looks the same so its hard to tell!

The sound of birds as the sun goes down. The wonderful beaches, please find one that is safe to swim. Well organised walks that try to minimise the impact of feet on this fragile habitat. Holes in the ground round the mangroves that will have lad crabs crawling out of them as the sun goes down.

This is a great place to be. Beautiful and exciting!
There are many types of beaches and people. Camping there is also great, it is like being in a movie, the jungle beside the beaches.

The park is amazing.
It is a jungle adventure that ends in a beautiful sea.
I wish I could get my own horse there, as I felt sorry for the decrepit ones for rent there. They obviously do not treat them nice.

Be prepared for a long, but inexpensive journey, on two-three different buses, but well worth it. Deet spray, sunscreen and a bathing suit are essential. The restaurant at Cabo San Juan was excellent and a oasis after the long hike. It's nearly impossible to enjoy the park in one day.
