Before making a decision to stay at the hotel, one needs to note it is very old and run down. It is not new at all and is in serious need of a makeover, as are many of the hotels located in Rodadero. As with many hotels in Colombia, it is also extremely expensive for what is offered. Our room cost 300,000 pesos a night including breakfast (170 usd). Now it is high season however this is very expensive for latin America, however comparative more or less to what you can expect at this time – all seem to be way over priced.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The lady who manages the hotel is very efficient and nice; she (and the staff) do a great job out of a bad-ish situation.
The A/C is split system and works well throughout the hotel rooms and lobby. A must I the heat.
Breakfast is very average for international standards but great for Colombian standards; eggs, rice, fruits, 2 cereals ad coffee / juice.
It has a pool, which, while old with the style of the hotel is not too bad.
Internet is included and fast. Tv – flat screen on wall with good selection
Location – one block from the beach / exito supermarket outfront etc.
The lady in charge organized live music Thursday and Saturday – very good.
As stated, very old and run down.
Internal rooms not too noisy, however if you have one facing onto the street, during high season expect a LOT of noise, Colombians generally are a very noisy people with little respect for others in that regard, and street music blares to all hours including cars parked outside with silly speaker systems,
Price – very high considering what state of repair and facilities the hotel has.
Price – as foreigner, you do not have to pay tax at hotels. The staff agreed with this however refused to take it off the bill stating that it would automatically be taken off by the credit card company which is a load of rubbish. This point alone means I will not stay here again.
I stayed here due to limited options having arrived in Rodadero last minute. The hotel was a better option than renting apartments, which are, in the majority, more run down and similar expense as the hotel (the whole rodadero high rise building system could well do with being torn down and rebuilt). I probably could have found a better deal if I wanted to wander the streets some more, and should have given the hotels refusal to take of the tax as required – my fault that one.
