“Great food, service needs improvement”
Reviewed July 23, 2014

Overall, Santa Marta isn´t a city with great gastronomy, so one shouldn´t expect much of the restaurants while there.

I found El Bistro to be the best option in the city center of Santa Marta. Located near "Plaza de los Novios", this French bistro is very cozy, with beautiful options - especially the steaks which are perfectly cooked. They also offer a mojitos happy hour (2x1) from 4pm to 8pm.

The weak point is the service! They are very lazy!

“Terrible food, but good drinks”
Reviewed April 22, 2014

We had dinner there, and food was terrible. Calamari were chewy and definitely not fresh. Drinks were good and cheap (2x1 promotion) but that's it, nothing special. The restaurant has a good location though.

“Amazing steaks! Good atmosphere on lively spot in Santa Marta.”
Reviewed March 31, 2014 via mobile

This restaurant is located a few minutes away for the plaza de Los novios - the center of Santa Marta's nightlife - on a busy pedestrian road. We went with a couple of friends for dinner in this Argentinian/French restaurant. We had the chance to take a table outside, a bit noisy because of the bars around but nice lively environment. At the beginning, we ordered a couple of mojitos and a starter (shrimp skewers) but the server mixed up out order and brought us something else (which looked good but it wasn't what we ordered-they fixed it quickly) and it took a long time to get our mojitos. The cocktails and the shrimp were just ok... However! Once we ordered the main courses, we all took beef (fillet mignon, rib eye, steak with pepper sauce, steak with onions) and they were INCREDIBLE! Never mind the light headed server and long wait for the cocktails... If you are up for beef in Santa Marta, don't miss this restaurant! Also, I was surprised with the Chilean wine we took. It was clearly a bit cold (I supposed it was on the fridge) but it was quite good for the price (60k pesos). For the 4 of us we paid around 220k pesos, so a bit expensive but the beef was sooo good that they are totally worth it.

“Decent lunch spot”
Reviewed March 30, 2014 via mobile

Hard to find a lot open for lunch on weekends, but bistro is open. Not a lot of focus on the customer nor the food, but their set menu is usually a good idea if you're pressed for time and/or money. They do have a good selection of Apostol beers by the bottle, which is a nice change from Aguila.

“Had lunch here twice”
Reviewed March 10, 2014

Food was good, staff was friendly. We found that the food in Santa Marta was just average, but felt that this was one of the better ones.
