“simply wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2013

This B&B is simply wonderful. We unfortunately only had a short stay, but I would recommend it to anyone without hesitation. In a nutshell: (1) The location is amazing. You are literally around the corner from all the restaurants and bars (which are either on Carrera 3 or Calle 19-20-21), BUT it is still quiet; (2) Casa Amani itself is beautiful. It feels like your home, but WAY cooler. There are 5 rooms and all are named after the word "peace", but in different languages. And you can see the care and detail by which every piece in the place was selected--from the placement of the hammock to the dining area which sits in the open veranda next to the open kitchen where breakfast is made; (3) Felipe, the owner is amazing. He takes the time to get to know you, while making you feel like you have been friends with him for ages. He joined us for breakfast, sat with us when we were relaxing by the pool, and even invited us to join his friends for drinks on NYE; (4) The breakfast is awesome. Tropical fruits, homemade yogurt and granola, fresh breads and spreads, eggs, and a selection of drinks.

Casa Amani is one of the loveliest places I have ever stayed. Beautifully decorated by its charming owner, Felipe Camargo, at times it was difficult to convince myself to go out and explore Santa Marta! But not just the comfort of the hotel, the friendliness of Felipe, his delightful sister and their lovely staff made my stay there so warm and enjoyable. I met other guests and was included in outings, so I forgot that I was travelling on my own. I can't recommend it highly enough and I would definitely go back there again.

What a gem of a bed and breakfast! I just took a full tour by the very gracious host and owner, Felipe after my friend Ivonned recommended it as one of the best in Santa Marta. Such a beautiful property with perfectly designed and decorated rooms. A romantic and relaxing charm permiates the entire space. I give it 5 stars for it's quaint and stylish elegance! I'll be back.

Casa Amani is a real jewel. The bedrooms are all well kitted out with excellent bathrooms and showers and flat-screen TV and mini-bar, but all these things don't capture the love and taste that has been poured into the restoration of this small colonial house in the centre of Santa Marta. The large communal living and dining area has a small pool, and is full of wonderful paintings, books and artifacts from the owner's trips around the world. Breakfast is also wonderful - granola, fresh fruit, lovely local sour cream and yogurt and eggs and toast/arepas. The professionalism and friendliness of the staff ensure that you relax and enjoy your stay. This is one of the best small hotels I have stayed in during many years of travel - it is what a 'boutique' hotel should be, tasteful but not pretentious and staffed with real care to ensure you have a great time.

Room Tip: Go for what is available and only three to choose from!

Walking into Amani is like entering a parallel universe wherein the midst of the city you can find a place to rest and enjoy the pleasures life can bring you. Healthy breakfast, very comfortable rooms and the company of people from around the world are the minimum aspects you can enjoy at Amani. Highly recommended!

Unfortunately the pool was shut when we arrived but the courtyard setting was a lovely respite from the hot busy streets outside. The location was central and what made our stay was the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. They allowed us to leave out bags there when we headed off on the lost city trek and off to tayrona and were very helpful with their recommendations. We would definitely stay there again.

As a well travelled woman and someone who has stayed over five different visits in Santa Marta for business, I was completely impressed with the outstanding service and disposition of the owner and staff of the Hotel Casa Amani. If I needed a baby sitter, a masseuse, fresh fruit, or any other exta detail -- it was met with the utmost easiness and grace. The room was wonderful, interior design reflected the sensibility and excellent taste of the owner. Everything was wonderful-- can't wait to return!
