“Great seafood”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

Very nice place to eat. We ordered the smaller portions and it was more than enough! The coconut shrimp are awesome.

“Excellent”

Excellent ceviche. Good price and service. Lovely terrace looking out at the central palace.
You have to try the beer with lemon juice at the bottom, and salt around the glass, like in Mexico with the tequila.

“Clean and nice place to eat sea food... As many others in town”
Reviewed March 12, 2013 via mobile

This place used to be tipical restorant, they improve the ceeling and the floor, but the food still in the same place, didn't improve and their prices are hi for what you get. If you want to go to say that you were at DONDE CHUCHO, you may go, otherwise look for other places.

“Sublime to the ridiculous - great lunch, bad dinner”
Reviewed February 27, 2013

We first visited Donde Chucho for lunch mid afternoon one quiet weekday, when most other restaurants were closed. Sitting outside enjoying a cold beer and fresh strawberry juice, we thoroughly enjoyed our food - a salad of garlic prawns was very pungent and tasty, and a big portion despite ordering the smaller of the two portion sizes, whilst a sea bass in an unusually exotic passion fruit sauce was cooked perfectly and an intriguing combination.

We returned for dinner a couple of days later, specifically to try their lobster. At nearly US$30, and on the back of our previous experience, we had very high expectations...which came crashing down to earth with a bang! Aside from the rather slow service despite there only being a couple of other dining parties, both the lobsters were 'grilled' to death and beyond, although I wouldn't have been surprised if someone told me they had been dying a slow death sitting in a microwave! The result was the toughest, driest and stringiest lobster flesh I have ever had the displeasure of attempting to eat, and I am still scratching my head trying to work out how they contrived to make such a poor dish - also I suspect that the lobsters weren't the freshest. Given that only a few days earlier on Playa Blanca (near Cartagena) I had managed to eat 4 whole freshly grilled lobsters for a mere 40,000 COP - yes, 4 delicious lobsters for a paltry $22 - I couldn't be more disappointed with our dinner at Donde Chucho.

“Deserved its reputation!”
Reviewed February 23, 2013

Decided to give this place a try based on reviews, and were very glad we did! Both indoor and outdoor seating available. Seafood was very fresh and cooked perfectly, and portions were generous. We will certainly go back if we find ourselves in Santa Marta again!
