“Boutique hotel, but more a travellers rest”
Reviewed November 26, 2012

This place is nicely designed and has a peaceful internal oasis with a pool and garden. The rooms are small and concrete, but nicely designed. The down side is that for some strange reason the internal pool and garden area are cleaned every night after mid night, and so the noise and lights were a problem for sleeping. The reception could be better (there isnt really one), and the service was a bit more like a backpackers than a boutique hotel. Good location.

The warm smiles of the helpful staff at Hotel Casa Verde made our time in Santa Marta. We arrived without any arrangements to get to Tayrona Park and then onward to Cartagena. They helped us arrange everything. The 'puerta a puerta' transport to Cartagena was comfortable and very reasonable. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The wading pool and lounging around it are ideal after a day exploring the city. The breakfast is delicious and they also serve snacks and drinks on request. The location is within walking distance to all of the top attractions (beach, Parque de los Novios, etc.).

Room Tip: The "rooftop" rooms on the second level have a beautiful view of the cathedral and surroun...

Stayed here two nights. The staff were really kind and helpful, Loved the little pool in the courtyard - great place to relax and escape the heat. The rooms were clean and comfortable, although they are on the small side and the windows have no screens. However, we didn't spend much time in them during the day, and turned the a/c on at night so it was fine. I would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: There's only 5 rooms. 4 are on the ground floor, and one upstairs. The upstairs would have more...

We unexpectedly found ourselves needing overnight accommodation in Santa Marta, and had about 5 minutes to decide. We ended up trusting TripAdvisor ranking and were not disappointed. A very nice boutique hotel, in a good neighborhood surrounded by many good restaurants, affordable, very nice and hospitable staff, including very kind hotel administrator by the name of Yuly Argote that even commands good English. The restoration was done very nicely, the room is comfortable, functional and good looking, the free access 24 hour kitchen is really nice, good wifi access. and very nice breakfast (several options to choose from). And very affordable rate

Room Tip: there re only 5 in the boutique hotel and they all appear to be equally nice

This hotel is a real treat.

The location is great. Close to a large supermarket, banks and lots of cheap, classy restaurants serving fresh and delicious meals. The streets have a real raw, un-gentrified, charm with the amazing old architecture still untouched. The water is only 4 minutes walk away and a taxi to the other beaches just costs a few dollars. (P.s. the taxis don't have meters but they seemed fairly honest. Just check the price before you get in.)

The complimentary breakfast is really nice including: coffee, fresh fruit, toast, ham, eggs, and delicious tropical fruit juice. All served with a big smile.

The rooms are very contemporary and great for the climate. I stayed in the larger room which was a real treat. A/C is there when the heat gets too impossible or the plunge pool was a great option with an icy beer in hand (US$1.50).

The staff went out of their way to point out where the local cafes and restaurants were and how to get to the attractions. Tayrona National Park is a must do. Get the bus local bus there but its a full day trip, pack water, hiking shoes and so get up very early and don't forget your passport. Also check out Rodadero and Taganga beaches.

Charming courtyard. Some rooms are very tiny. Location is central to everything. Staff is quite accommodating. However, prices are expensive for what the hotel is. You still have to put your toilet paper in a separate trash bin and buy your own drinking water. Beds were too hard for comfort and linen and towels were not up to standards for the price paid (no comforters on bed; towels and linen not changed daily and very rough quality and not machine washed.) Our bathroom door did not close properly and had to be kept shut with a rock.

One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at. Very nice rooms, and common areas with a hammock to relax in, a small pool and lounging area. The breakfast the hotel staff made was also very delicious. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly to us throughout our whole stay. Would love to go back!
