Want to listen to bob Marley on repeat whilst continuously jumping into the pool bum first with other like minded splashers or recline on the sunloungers gazing at your iPad waiting for the snails pace WiFi to work? Fall asleep to the soporific sounds of Daft Punk's Get lucky volume at 11, and raucous backpackers necking cheap shots whilst playing the guitar badly? Then stop looking dreamer... Your dream is here.

Otherwise, this is a Hostel that ticks the boxes and is set around a nice pool with average amenities and goodish food... Slightly overpriced and over hyped. Try and get an air con dorm unless you like waking up in a pool of your own sweat. Staff are lovely, attentive and helpful.

The Dreamer Hostel in Santa Marta is the perfect place to hang out and relax. We spent over a week there in total. To start with, The yard has a pool and is surrounded by trees with different fruits on them, which creates the impression of a little piece of paradise. The rooms are very clean and so are the floors and bathrooms because they have a 24/7 cleaning service. They have a pool table and a nice tv area on the 2nd floor to hang out with a wide range of different movies. You can also buy things and the close by supermarket and cook them as there is a common kitchen featuring 2 refrigerators, where you can keep your food cold. But their kitchen is not to be missed. If you want to order something from the menu, they have some really nice plates to offer. My favourite was the "chicken fajita", but pasta was also pretty delicious.

Every day there is a different activity, e.g. a party bus on friday, which takes you to a beach in Santa Marta, where locals spend their evenings and you can dance with them or hang out. After staying for a little while, the ride goes on and will finally let you off at a club in Santa Marta (e.g. La Puerta) to party the rest of the night. But The Dreamer Hostel is not a Party Hostel in the first place. It achieves a very pleasant balance, as the hostel bar closes at midnight, so people who want to sleep can do so and the others just go out.

But the best thing about the hostel is the staff. They do everything for you, e.g. Once I needed a basket to wash my dirty laundry and had asked them for one and they immediately got it for me from the cleaning ladies, so I could wash my clothes. But not only that, they are very funny guys and treat you like a friend. They even play football with.

All in all, it was a great stay, which is why we checked in again, after we went to Tayrona Park (National Park with beautiful beaches). We really enjoyed the time.
Thanks for making our stay so comfortable and unforgettable!!!

Room Tip: The rooms have names of different countries. For Dorms, choose Brasil or Italy because they have A/C...

I really like this hostel, can say it's one of the best I've been in at my trip. Very relaxing, beautiful, clean and the staff are awesome. You got everything you need, and it's located 5 minutes walking from a nice Plaza with big super market. I went there for 2 nights and stayed another one just because it was that nice to be there.

This hostel is meant for hippies and it is full of them. My friends and I prefer to be around normal people. The hostel had good security with large gates. The rooms were clean and well-maintained. The internet did not work well and we had to constantly reconnect. The staff spoke English quite well. They had a bit of an attitude though and were not very respectful. We stayed for one night and then found an apartment to rent. If you're going solo, this is a decent place to stay at. But if you have a couple of people with you, it's much better to rent an apartment near the beach. It's cheaper and a better location.

I had mixed feelings about ''Dreamer Hostel'' in Santa Marta.
It has been voted ''best hostel'' in Colombia for a couple of years running.

I expected big things with a claim like that and was disappointed on first impressions.
The rooms are average size but are very stuffy. My room had 1 window in a 10 bed dorm and was impossible to sleep in the first night (fanned room , no air con).

Second night i stayed in an Air conditioned room , but it didn't work , so i slept in the hammock that night. Don't have expectations and maybe you'll enjoy it more then me. It was a cool place to hangout through the day and the small canteen they serve food at is actually pretty good.

One thing i liked was the staff. Always smiling and happy to help with is great when your travelling.
Overall it was an average hostel with nice staff and very very hot uncomfortable rooms.

Room Tip: Get a room with A/C otherwise you'll be kicking yourself and....book in advance , these guys wer...
