Well run, clean hostel, with thatched cabins with ensuite. Well located right next door to the awesome parque. Owner Wilmar is very helpful with the activities! Lacks Internet however (except for very slow GPRS). Coconuts on playa coco or coral reef snorkelling at playa cristal.

I experienced an unforgettable holiday at yuluka hostal. Not only the extraordinary location but the place itself is clean , couzy (very) and the rooms are little houses separated one from each other. Very private , intimate and romantic !!! The service was great and you can have free coffee anytime of the day!!!!
Highly recommended. For sure we will be back !

We stayed four nights with two children (7 and 5), two adults, and Grandma. Everything people have said on TripAdvisor are true. The property is lovely; the pool is nice, the gardens are well maintained. Wilmar, the owner, his wife, and the staff were very helpful.
We did three day trips - 1) to the Beaches of Tayrona National Park on the Northern side, 2) Playa Crystal on the south and, 3) To Pueblito. Wilmar helped us to coordinate all three days trips and he charged a reasonable fee.
There were a few challenges. Since the area is still being developed for tourists there is a lack of English help at the Yuluka and Tayrona Park. I really would have liked better information in English. For instance, at Playa Crystal they were telling everyone where to go snorkeling. (It was down the beach about 200yards) I thought to myself that the area right in front of us looked good and hopped in and swam pretty far into the water. Little did I know that it was "Scorpionfish Alley." I lucked out.
We ate at Yuluka everyday. The food is good Typical Colombian food. It can get a little tiring but there aren't any other options until you get to Santa Marta (1/2h away)
Would I go back to Yuluka Hostel? Absolutely! It is picturesque and affordable! When my wife and I needed a break from the kids, Wilmar's wife set-up a playdate with her kids and took care of them! Awesome!

The property is lush with beautiful vegetation set on the mountain side. There is not a lot close by so you have to take a taxi most places but it is very close to the entrance to the national park. The rooms are actually small huts place along a stone path up the hill. Most have a wrap around balcony with a table and a hammock so you can look out over the forest. Our room had a stone tub and a shower on the back side of the balcony, which uncovered so you can look at the stars. The rooms come with a TV but I didn’t use it. The only negative thing about the room is there is no real lock on the doors so if you are worried about valuables it is better to give them to the front desk to lock up in a locker than keep in your room. There is a small pool good for just hanging out and relaxing but not any actual workout.

The owners of the hostel were very very kind. They greeted us and gave as tour, then told us about the area, what sights we could go see, and then helped us plan out our day based on how far away everything was. They were very helpful in answering any questions and they also will drive you to the park for less than a taxi would cost.

The hostel has a small dining area we had breakfast and dinner, both were very good. Since our room did not have a fridge they gave us a cooler to take beers up to our room so we would not have to hike up and down the steep hill to our room at the top.

Overall this is a great place to stay, I would say it is defiantly more for a romantic getaway location (did no know that ahead of time) but they offer dorm room style bunks for backpackers and the like. One thing I would pack for anyone though is a flashlight, there is very little light on the grounds at night and the walk up and down the hill can be slippery and steep.

My partner and I stayed here last December, and it was so delightful! Wilmar was a great host and very knowledgeable about the area. It exceeded out expectations. The staff was super sweet, and the food was yummy, simple, and homemade. We were very comfortable in our cabana! I would definitely stay here again, and have recommended it to family.

is located directly next to the highway,it is very noise, you hear cars all night!!!
The chance to take a shower are reduced, because the water is very very cold!!!
When I booked the room, I was told that the breakfast is included in the price of the room, we finally paid separately the breakfast!!!(very expensive!!!)
When I booked the room, I was asked for some money depozit, obviously i never got my money back , we paid a trip, to the wonderful Wilmar, we ended up returning home on foot, because Wilmar never bother to come and take us!!We ate at the restaurant and I ordered a bottle of wine, the waiter did not even know how to open a bottle of wine, for a restaurant with such high prices.. we .planned to stay 3 nights, we stay only one night ...everything was disastrous!!!
