The beach is a delight, though the price of the chairs and cabina/tent seem to have increased. We paid $24,000 for 2 recliners and cover for a few hours before we headed back to the mainland. The sea is like bath water - but crystal clear.

“Lovely spot for sunbathing!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2013

I went to Johnny Cay 4 times in my week stay in San Andres. It is by far the nicest beach and the sea is gorgeous and clean and easy to swim in. There isn't much to do on the island, it is very small. But if you just want to chill out and relax then it's perfect. There is a banana boat ride you can do, and there is some cool wildlife to see, iguanas and spiders etc. The food/drink huts are good and fairly cheap. Lots of reggae music and nice friendly atmosphere made it a really nice place to relax for the day. Boat rides are cheap to get there and back and its very close to San Andres. Definitely go here!

“A beautiful desert island”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 6, 2013

The island is a 10 minute boat ride from San andres and is a great way to spend a day in the sun enjoying the clear blue waters.
Take cash as everything costs- beach chairs, umbrellas, small entrance fee. There's huts serving food and they'll bring drinks to the beach.
Not much to do other than swim, sun bathe and relax.
Boats there and back can be a little interesting to get on and off but they'll help you and there's life vests.
We went with Jimmy and he was really helpful without being pushy. Gringas will get lots of attention from the workers but we felt really safe and had a wonderful day.

Had a great time and kids loved it. Was a little windy and rainy but again it was rainy season in October so it was ok.
