360-degrees view of the 7 colors sea! Really beautiful, but very crowded. Food and drinks a little pricey...

“Great day trip from San Andres”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

For only 20,000 Colombian pesos (about $10 US), you can't beat this trip. You can either take a taxi or walk to the dock where the boats leave from. The first part of the trip is a 5 minute boat ride (expect to get wet and/or drenched so make sure your electronics are in plastic bags) to Acuario, a beautiful and very small island surrounded by crystal clear water. You disembark for about an hour and you have time to walk around the island and swim, take photos, etc. When I was there, there was a man who had a stingray and for 3,000 pesos you could get your picture with it on your back and even kissing it!

After Acuario, you hop back on the boat to Johnny Cay. It's a bit touristy and the places selling drinks/food are a bit overpriced, but nobody is forcing you to buy anything. Just take in the island. You can walk the entire circumference in about 30 minutes and its a beautiful walk. If you're going to swim, there is the main area where everyone gathers. It's rocky so make sure you have appropriate shoes (flip flops won't work here) if you want to enjoy it.

The shades of water are incredible and you can get some really nice photos. Don't expect to see many fish, however. On the quiet side of the island I saw some crabs and a few fish but nothing to write home about.

You can rent lockers if you have valuables (someone stole my swimming shoes but I kept my smartphone/camera with me) so I'd recommend using those if you have anything of value.

“Very nice pretty small scenic great beach”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

Very nice pretty small scenic great beach, so pristine, great place, the only problem is that if you take a boat there, you may get stuck there all day long, forced to eat and pay to use bathroom and high prices and many selling stuff, the beach is beautiful there though, a great place, I have taken many great pictures from San Andres of Johnny Cay, love it!

“Island to Island”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

This was a beautiful excursion. You actually can walk from one small island to another via walking on the beach.

The boat process was a bit ghetto.
