The Paramount theater and Convention Hall lie adjacent to each other in the city of Asbury Park NJ.In the 50's and 60's they were quite popular venues for sporting events and entertaining.Bruce Springstein still does his dress rehearsals in the Paramont Theater(although the acoustics are not good.)The Convention Hall hosted basketball playoffs,a few arcade games. At one point Johnny Cash wanted to purchase it, and turn it into a recording studio, but it never transpired. Now it s a restaurant overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. An effort to revive Asbury Park is in progress, politics and bankruptcy has plagued the city for years.Hopefuly a resurgence in the City is slowly taking place, many new restaurantsThe architecture is very ornate..

I really enjoyed every one of the plays that we saw at the Paramount theatre, presented by the Premier Theatre Group. The Paramount is from years gone by, therefore, there is a certain nostalgic feel about the theatre. It's just too bad they couldn't invest somehow and restore the interior to it's original beauty. With that said, it's still worth visiting.

Beautiful Theatre overlooking the beach sitting on a jetty in Asbury Park standing guard over the vast ocean. Very ornate, it is the perfect venue for any event. I'm here with the family to celebrate the elevation of the Holy Cross, an annual event the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of N J holds here followed by the blessing of the waters right on the ocean.
The only negative is that the Theatre is in dire need of remodeling.

My wife and friends saw the show this past Friday with Bill Medley and Darlene Love. What a great venue for an oldies concert. Yes, the theater is old and still needs some work, but the acoustics are great. They need to add a few more food concessions and decent prices. I think a small popcorn was $5 which is totally outrageous. The restrooms were old but clean.

Went to see Bill Medley and Darlene Love; they were both great! There was a horrible opening act; the sound system was so poor that you didn't even know who they were. But, that's OK. The great building is run down and the AC only worked a little. It was an extremely drawn out night with long intermissions and a movie. Two great acts; one very poor place.
