Excellent location with a great price..!!
Have stayed here 3 times without any incidents, be sure to ask for a quiet room because the noise from the bars and restaurants may be a little uncomfortable...!!

I stayed here with my wife for one night and wish we had more time to enjoy the room. It is located in the "Milla de Oro - Golden Mile", one of the best locations in the city close to malls, Hard Rock Cafe, restaurants etc.

The hotel is actually located inside a small mall, it has about 18 floors and the rooms are amazing! No matter in which room you are you'll have either a (i) great view of the city or (ii) a great view of the mountain on the east side of the city. Rooms come with all the ammenities (microwave, sink, fridge, safebox) and a full bar (juices, soft drinks and sodas, crackers, red bull....you name it) so useful if you feel like staying in bed and not going outside for a drink.

The TV is great (but for a new hotel I was expecting a flat screen) and located in the middle of the room between the bed and the living room....you just need to turn it around to watch tv from any location in the room. Internet signal worked perfectly! We were leaving early in the morning to go to the airport and booked the transportation via the hotel ($54000 pesos ~ 30 dollars) that were charged directly to the account as I expected (you can also pay in cash).....driver was great! Also, we got our wake up call in time (4:30 AM!) which is, for me, a great deal as I have requested this service at the Hilton / or Intercontinental sometimes with no success.....so I was very happy.

As I mentioned earlier, the hotel is inside a mall called "Strada"...one of the best places in Medellin: You can go for excellente meals early at night, then hit any of the bars on the 2nd - 3rd level (Shots bar, Beer Store, Kristal etc) and party all night and then not to worry about getting any taxi to go to your hotel because you are right there!

Also, the hotel has a small but complete store with local handcraft gifts..perfect for a last minute gift if you forgot to buy anything during your stay. I will definitely will come back here again when I fly back to Medellin!

Our house was being fumigated in another part of Medellin and there are so few hotels here modern enough to have accessible rooms, including roll in showers. Even though the toilet was standard, access was well within ADA guidelines.

You will be comfortable in one of their accessible rooms using a wheelchair or a scooter. The surrounding area is accessible but most of the restaurants in the attached mall are not.

First off, this hotel is very clean and the descriptions of other guests are just about accurate. What everyone fails to mention, however, is that the hotel makes its money in holding you hostage by paying an extra $100,000 Colombia pesos (plus their 10% tax) for extra "guests" that come up to your room. The 110,000 Colombia Pesos comes out to about $60 United States Dollars. The best part is that they never tell you about this until AFTER you want to bring someone back to your room.

If I would have known about this extra $60 charge, I would never have stayed at this hotel.

A guest is defined as anyone who wants to visit your room. This could be a friend, relative, or a nice looking Colombian girl you found in a nightclub. The staff is unapologetic and has no sympathy for charging these outrageous fees to their customers. The guest could stay for 10 minutes, or 10 hours, you will be charged the same. In another words, if you stay at this hotel you better be 100% certain you will never have any guests visit your room. What extra value does the hotel bring for charging you an extra $60 for bringing a guest? Answer: nothing.

Because of this one issue, I will never stay at this hotel again.

Stayed at Holiday Inn Express for 6 nights with my wife and son while vacationing in Medellin. We couldn't have been more pleased with the value, service, cleanliness and room amenities. The hotel is totally modern and is located in a very nice & secure neighborhood in the business district. (Note: The map location shown when you Google this address is grossly inaccurate. The hotel staff is aware and has contacted Google to correct this.) We went out walking every morning and evening in the area and felt completely secure. A nearby feature we especially enjoyed was a "linear park" located about 1/4 mile north of the hotel which leads to the many sidewalk cafes and restaurants of the Parque Lleras area, a center for night life. Also approximately 1/2 mile south of the hotel is the Oviedo Shopping Mall which is large and very modern.

The large rooms are bright, airy and very clean, with kitchenette (sink, micro-wave, mini-fridge), sitting area and sleeping area. The bed was very firm, though comfortable. The sofa also converts to a bed which my son found comfortable. The bathroom has a large and convenient walk-in shower. The front desk personnel are bi-lingual and are very pleasant and willing to help.

One of the highlights is the buffet breakfast which is served every morning on the 21st floor in an open-air setting. The views from here are spectacular, as is the breakfast, a blend of American & Colombian food. Always included are scrambled eggs, cereal and fresh tropical fruits and juices, with a changing variety of accompanying items.

The only negative was that beneath our window on the 8th floor were several restaurants and cafes which became very noisy on Friday and Saturday nights. By turning on the rooms air conditioner, however, we were able to drown out the noise and sleep well.

The Holiday Inn Express in Medellin was the type of hotel you feel lucky to have discovered. This was my first time in Medellin, but I quickly discovered that El Poblado was the most upscale (as well as safe) neighborhood to be in. Within steps on the same street are older full service more 'luxury' hotels, plenty of shopping opportunities, and a variety of restaurants. Yet this Holiday Inn Express is finished to such a high standard, it does seem every bit as luxurious, and when word gets out, this place will be very competitively placed in the industry . The room interior is modern, very spacious, comfortable, and has a well thought out floor plan. I always like having a separate living room area and kitchenette in my hotel room, and for the price, this is a real find. My reservation was originally only for 2 nights, but I ended up staying for over a week. The hotel sits on a hill overlooking the city, and the views from my 15th floor room were very pleasant. The included breakfast buffet, enjoyed with panoramic views of the city from the 21st floor, is a beautifully maintained spread with plenty of variety.

They do not have room service, but there are several restaurants, a Burger King, and a Pastry/Coffee shop on the main floor of the building. Also, the restaurants deliver to the room, so its very close to room service.

They have other services I would expect to see in better quality hotels such as same day laundry, a free business center, and free wireless internet throughout the hotel. On top of that, the staff at the front desk is bilingual and the friendliest bunch of people you will come across in a hotel. Whenever I had questions or needed assistance, they impressed me over and over with personalized attention. They had the time, whatever it was that I needed, especially Adriana and Jessica. The rest of the staff was also very pleasant and always greeted me. There are a lot of people working hard to make this a great place to stay, and they won me over!

The one and only down side was the noise I could hear from the bar below the hotel, which was especially loud on Thursday and Friday night (I'm a very light sleeper.) The big gorgeous windows spanning the entire suite do have this one downside, but running the A/C helped diffuse the noise significantly. A room facing the south might be quieter. There were clubs throughout the El Poblado neighborhood, so the noise might be the same at the other hotels.

This hotel is newer and is not prominently seen from the road, even though it is on the main stretch of El Poblado neighborhood. The taxi drivers typically didn't know about this hotel, so I always kept a hotel card with me.
