The two accompanying tour guides are very knowledgeable about the life and times of Pablo Escobar. It isn't a 'look at how this celebrity criminal lived' kind of tour, but a well informed, comprehensive and very interesting history of the man, the cartel, the city, the country and the very sad part of Colombian history.... You don't want to skip this.....!

This is a very popular tour and actually really hard to get into as they only do one a day with only around 10 people on each tour. Considering most tourist want to do this tour I think they should really consider during more runs.Due to a cancellation we managed to get in and we were really looking forward to it. We stayed at Casa Kiwi where the tour started and we gathered outside to then be told by a lady that we needed to get in the van. We were all just chatting and didn't notice the white van on the corner so we asked where it was and the woman said "Er the only van on the street!" charming I thought, what side of the bed did you wake up on. So turns out she was our guide. Me and my bf sat at the front which was probably a bad idea.

The tour started and the information given was very interesting. They also provided pictures and props to show us as the lady talked. The lady passed the guy a prop of a rosary beads (cant remember exactly what it was now) to pass around and the guy hesitated to which she barked "Its one each, its really not that difficult". What the hell I thought, why are you so rude. I understand that its a difficult subject and the bitterness of what has happened in her city is understandable but really isnt the tourist fault, there was really no need for the rudeness. She never smiled, just went through her script like a robot. People asked questions but she never really answered them well and when she did it either was one lined answers or she barked at you. In the end no one really wanted to ask question and you could definitely feel this odd tension in the air which is crazy as we are on a tour.

I am not sure if this Lady was just having a really bad day. It can happen to everyone, but jesus if shes always like this she needs to get a new job. You cant be a guide and make the people on the tour feel like you hated them. On our breaks all the group agreed she had a bad attitude and she was even crowned the name "Little Miss Sunshine". An otherwise excellent tour for information was ruined by the guide am afraid. I would still advise people to do it but fingers you dont get her.

Make sure you don't confuse the Paisa Road tour with the tour where you meet Pablo's brother. The Paisa Road tour is entirely different, and is the cheaper of the two. The guides were excellent and full of information and stories about Pablo, Medellin, Colombia and the drug trade, some of which are pretty emotional and hard to hear. It was hands down one of the best things I did in Medellin. Thoroughly recommended!

This tour was brilliant, a fascinating and thought-provoking cultural experience.

Driven around Medellin for a few hours, we were shown several of Escobar's former homes and offices, plus taken to his grave and the house where he was killed, all accompanied with stories and old photos from the time. However, it was the informative guide that really made this trip, not the bombsite remains. It was hard hitting and in no way glorified the man or his trade. There was stacks of information on what it was like during his time (the guide was a kid in Medellin then), as well as wider issues of the cocaine trade and what has (or hasn't) changed in the city today.

We were picked up and dropped off at our hostel as well.

I think the disappointed reviewer below is referring to a different tour company, one apparently associated with the Escobar family, who have since also jumped on the bandwagon.
