“rooms and location are okay, but nobody speaks English”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2013

It's worth for the rooms and the location. But you have to know that nobody speaks any other language besides Spanish. It's a more a business hotel, I would recommend to stay in a hostel. There, people speak English and help to organize day trips.

We normally stay at more boutique or bed & breakfast-type places. If that's your cup of tea also, just know that, as the manager told us upon check-in, this is definitely a hotel aimed more at business travelers. Everything is very comfy, clean and efficient, but if you are looking for local character or romance, this may not be the best choice. As a young couple, it was a bit disconcerting to be given a room with two separate twin beds ... but they quickly fixed the mixup in a very friendly manner. Due to their focus on business travel, the weekend rates are cheaper than the weekday rates. We were on the 4th floor and the view over Medellín was great. Their roof deck is a wonderful place to enjoy coffee or just relax. We enjoyed being in such a lively district, but the music from the nearby bars can be loud. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs.

This lovely boutique hotel is on the edge of el Pablado neighborhood in Medellin and thus is in a beautiful and upscale part of the city. I was particularly happy with the very reasonable price, the delicious homemade breakfast, and the very warm staff. The rooms are on the smaller side but VERY nice and upscale. Very comfortable bed and great maid service each day. Flat screen t.v. with cable/directv. The shower was divine and the internet was fast and reliable. There are staff members during the day who speak excellent Spanish, though not during the nights I was there. I wish I spoke Spanish more fluently but this was not a problem. As with *any and all* hotels in this area of Medellin, there is the thump thump of music at night because there are many clubs in El Pablado...so if you are a light sleeper check with staff to get a room that will be quieter. Because the In House is several blocks away, I believe it is much quieter than other hotels closer to the action. If I return to Medellin I will definitely stay here again. Lovely little family owned boutique hotel.

Room Tip: No pool but there is a great terrace on top of the hotel that is lovely to sit outside. They have a...

In Colombia as a rule, hotels are overpriced. Better to stay in a small hotel like this one, comfortable rooms with lots of light, done with good taste, variety for breakfast, great location, and personalized service. A wonderful three star. I will stay there the next time I go to Medellin.

This small hotel has lots of good things going for it but some negatives as well. Positives include a very clean room and good wifi, a very helpful staff, a nice breakfast, decent prices and an outstanding location.
Negatives include no elevator (so if you have trouble with stairs, beware), very limited closet space (no drawers at all), and uncomfortable pillows. I booked thru Expedia and when I arrived the hotel said there was an extra charge for "insurance". The hotel also saves money by giving you just one face towel, one wash cloth and two small bath towels.
We had a room at the back and just one night of loud music during our 8 day stay.

An excellent hotel: very clean, organized, wifi works well on all floors, rather economical, good breakfast, quiet for sleeping yet conveniently located to Parque Lleras. The staff are very friendly and intent on doing what they can to help you enjoy your stay.

Room Tip: It would be nice if the rooms were a little larger, but they were not small either.

My girlfriend and I stayed for 7 nights in this little hotel and really enjoyed our stay. The staff is friendly (although most of them do not speak English and our Spanish is not good) and the rooms are tidy and neat.

If you make reservations ask for a room on the backside of the hotel (higher is better), as you get an awesome view of Medellin and the mountains in return. You have to give up the luxury of a balcony (front faced rooms have these) but you do not really miss the balcony at all. The room has big sliding doors you can open, which really connects you with the great view.

The manager Silvia speaks English very well and was very helpfull in arranging tours, taxi's and reservations for our bustrip to termales de Santa Rosa and Valle de Cocora (must see if you have time!!).

The neighborhood feels really safe, is well lit and police cruise around the corner every five minutes. Parque Lleras is only 3 minutes away and we recommend Mundo Verde for lunch and diner.

Overall Medellin was a great experience and this little hotel was great value for money!
