After spending several noisy nights in other Medellin hostels, Arcadia was a welcome relief. Going to sleep to the sound of a stream in a beautiful wooded area only five minutes from Poblado´s party area was great! The owner Spyros and his staff helped organize several tours for me and told me all about the city. The Saturday night karaoke was extremely fun and the Sunday BBQ was a great way to meet other travelers. The greek sauce was great as well!

I stayed in 3 different rooms for a total of 10 nights and loved all of them. The rooms and the common area were kept spotlessly clean and the warm HIGH pressure shower water was awesome. Internet access worked fine in my rooms with my laptop which made my work much easier. Overall, Arcadia was a great place that felt peaceful yet was only minutes from the nightlife. Hanging out with the guests on the covered, large outdoor patio was quite memorable as well. And the hostel bar drinks were great prices, much better than anywhere else around town. Thanks for the great stay.

We stayed a few nights here to see beautiful Medellin. The guys are great there and wish them every success.

The Good:
Incredible staff. Could not be more helpful. All with a smile on their faces.
Location great. Only a five minute walk into the hustle and bustle of El Poblado but in a leafy area opposite a small green park area.
Roomy rooms. We stayed in Calypso and was huge. Bathroom massive and fully stocked.
Breakfast. Simple - cook pancakes yourself with premixed mixture and grab a great cup of Colombian coffee. What else is needed??

The Bad:
The Greek style BBQ was interesting but all food was gone before I had "all I want". At the end of the day, we're all backpacking and watching every peso so it didn't surprise me that there wasn't enough. While not expensive, I wished I could have had a bit more of the good food.
The room we booked, Calypso, was out of the way from the common areas so that we could socialize when we wanted and enjoy quiet time when we wanted. People were smoking on the verandah while socialising and I respect their choice to do that. But then we would wake up with smoke in our room cos someone couldn't be bothered walking 20m to the verandah. I realize this isn't the fault of the guys working but hopefully they could enforce that rule (which was made very clear to us when checking in) a bit better now.

The Ugly:
Even Clint Eastwood agrees there's no uglies [|8{>

Excellent place to stay in Medellin. This is the best hostel in El Poblado (the best neighborhood in the city of Medellin). Very close to Zona Rosa and all the nightlife in Medellin. Plenty of restaurants and bars are located in 5 minutes walking from hostel.

Hostel is clean, easy, and quiet. The whole hotel's staff (speak English) is really great and helped me a lot in everything I needed. The owner was always ready to help and give suggestions.

BBQ on sundays is huge and delicioso!!! Not to be missed!!!

Would definitely recommend. ¡Hasta luego! Arcadia

.... you don't need many other reasons to prefer a hostel. We stayed there twice and experienced almost all rooms, the luxury partnenon suite, the small dorm with private bath and even the large dorm with private bath as well. No complaint as matresses are new and cleaning is a priority for thr hostel's owner.
Poblado is probably the best neighborhood in the city of Medellin and Arcadia hostel is only 5 minutes walking from Zona Rosa, the heart of that area. Tonnes of bars and restaurants at your service, but get some advice from Spyros to visit some less trendy places.
Staff speaks good english and are eager to help you with all travel arrangements, but above all it's Spyros that manages really well the whole hostel and may give you advise wherever in Colombia you want to travel.
Highlight is Sunday's bbq. If it happens to be there, even if you don't stay at the hostel is really worth of visiting it as value for money is out of question. Open buffet for 15.000 pesos!!!
We definetely going back there when we visit again Colombia.

I say home base because when you were kids, home base was the place during a yard game that you went to seek refuge and catch a break from the fast world of Tag.

Travelling is a fast world sometimes. Full of confusion and the need to recoop.
HOMEBASE

Arcadia is just that. Its comfort and sense of home fills the air.

Its has cozy places all over and really gives a sense of peace. The location is walking minutes (7 actually) to a wonderful area of town full of fresh new restaurants and culture, parque lleras
The owner and his staff make it a point to make sure that you are not lost at all and that ease of moving around the city is a priority. Great maps and advice really help when travelling. They have em along with access to Free Internet and WiFi (mega travelling plus).

The Hostel is in such a great location and close to everything that you may need from markets and malls, to mass transit systems and cable ways. The area is safe and the Hostel itself is really safe. It is up on the second floor with secure access. ( Peace in mind of where you keep your gear while exploring a town is so important...Your good here)

The comfort
Great patio with Rain cover, a hammock, Table and Grill. Inside, the living room is super chill with its spacious comfortable couches, windows with great natural light for reading or planning your next adventure, and a large High Def TV with access to a wide variety of Movies the Owner provides, all of which are in multiple languages and subtitles. The open Kitchen is just perfect. Its size and ease is superb. The organization of ingredients and placement of pots, pans, utensils, make cooking a meal easy and other guests tend to get into a community type cook down( the market is close so its so great to cook whatever whenever you want).
The Beds are great...The Best.
For real, The hand carved bunks, made from solid wood, were carved by a buddy of the owner. Each one has a sweet little shelf on the wall and a great micro lamp perfect for reading. Next to each bunk is a very secured personal locker ( I have found that your stay is so much better when your area of sleep is designed by someone who has travelled. The shelf and light really make it possible to make your area very personal and easy to live. Major Plus)
Hot, perfect pressure showers make the bathroom by far the best I have seen in a hostel, hands down! It is a private room with all tile and hooks for clothes.

Overall I would say that to a traveller, this was quite an experience. The owner is passionate about making the stay the best and passes his passion on to his staff.
Do it.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great. Some are private if desired. In the dorms, as always when doin the hostel life, choose top bunk.
