The hostel is almost brand new, so it is super clean. the staff is wonderful and very knowledgeable about the city and surrounding area. the bar area is fun but not too wild.

We recently ended up at Wandering Paisa after the near-by hostel cancelled our reservation on us because our bus was 3 hours late. Frustrated and tired we arrived over at the Wandering Paisa where we were greeted warmly by Sebastian who quickly booked us into our dorm room. The dorm was very clean, quiet, and the beds were really comfortable. I liked the privacy dividers and the shelves inside the bunks for water bottles, books, etc. The next morning Gisel was at the front desk and also greeted us very warmly. She answered all of our questions and ordered the typical breakfast for us from the restaurant around the corner. Eggs, arepa, queso, and coffee or hot chocolate for 3500 ($2.00), well worth the price. She also answered all of our questions and told us where to find everything we needed. The other nice thing about the hostel is that Miles, one of the owners, practically lives there and can answer all questions or address any concerns.

The Wandering Paisa is in the Laureles district, it has a great area for nightlife but its quieter, safer, and way less expensive than the Pablado district. Its also 10 minutes away from the Futbol stadium, and 15 minutes away from the Bullfighting ring. If you like to walk and explore you'll find everything is close to the hostel. You could explore Medellin for months and not get bored. We ended up taking Spanish lessons and staying for 2 weeks, and even though its time to move on, we'll miss being here.

Just as a notice to more selective travelers. The Wandering Paisa is a very new hostel, as of this posting, its still being finished off. There is some construction, painting, general maintenance. It has a good size kitchen and they offer coffee 24/7 but there is no free breakfast. They're adding a bar, the back patio isn't complete, its a bit skint on art, and its too new to have found its true style. It can be a bit loud during the day but its very peaceful in the evenings.

Also right now, the Wandering Paisa is NOT a party hostel, which I personally preferred, but I don't know if it'll stay that way. I think if you want the party atmosphere a hostel in Pablado is probably the place to be. If you want to chill out, meet some great people, and be close to culture and heart of Medellin then Laureles is the place to be.
