This place is a gem and the positive reviews are spot-on - but with a few caveats.
Though it looks a bit dodgy from the outside, once inside you'll find a well kept residence with very spacious rooms, friendly staff and privacy. The cost is between $25 US and $40 US per night, which can't be beat. There is breakfast served every day for a nominal fee, and the staff are helpful in every way that you could ever ask. Internet is free and reliable via several wireless routers in the building.
The only issue is not with the hotel but the neighborhood. Prado Centro is a bad neighborhood, and unsafe to go about after dark. If you are adventurous, the surrounding area (which incidentally used to be the richest neighborhood in Medellin 50 years ago) is actually quite culturally rich, with local restaurants, street bazaars and the like. But safety, well not so much.More
