“Best hostel in 7 months of Central / South America”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

Excellent, new-feeling, massive, double room. Very comfy bed and very quiet. Proper hot shower.
Great social area, easy to meet people
Kitchen well equipped if a little small, 2 massive fridges. Most people cook as there's a massive supermarket close by
Very tasty BBQ on Sunday. Tonnes of good food for your money
Internet was fine for us and we didn't have to pay
Friendly staff, and happy to help out with phonecalls, bookings etc
Great location. 10min walk to Parque Lleras or to nearest metro station
Only slight gripe was that the laundry wasn't folded when we got it back. Seems petty but it's a little annoying when paying good money for a service.
Do the walking tour, it's excellent and great value, unlike the Escobar tour run by Escobar's brother

The staff accommodated my same day reservation. It was very easy arriving to the hostel via the metro. It's about a 7 minute walk from the Poblado station. Free internet was nice plus they gave me a towel to use without cost. Would have liked if there was more than one bathroom to the mixed dorm room. Would have preferred for the lockers to have been inside of the dorm room, rather than in the common room. Not the hostel's fault but there was a lad coughing for a while, at the same time as a girl snoring at night. Didn't get great sleep. I ended up leaving a day early because an invitation was extended to me by a paisa friend and the hostel was kind enough to not charge me the full price of that missed night even though I checked out past the official check out hour.

We stayed 3 nights and it s one of the better hostels I have stayed at. We were in a private double and it was more like a nice hotel room rather than what you would expect to get in a hostel. The whole place was very clean and helpful & friendly staff. It had a good vibe and offered activities most days.

It is also close to a metro station so easy to get around Medellin from here.

I stayed in Blacksheep on two separate occasions for a total of about four nights. It's a very good hostel overall.

- Sociable without being a party hostel.

- Good staff

- The private rooms are like hotel rooms - large, big beds and huge shelves to place your bags

- Always kept very clean

- Location is OK. A short $3 cab to Parque Lleras or a 15 min walk. A huge supermarket is just 10 minutes walk down the road, as is a Metro station and lots of other things such as fast food, lavendarias, etc.

A few points that stop me giving it 5 stars:

- Wifi was infuriating. It reached pretty much all over the hostel but disconnects were constant, 5-10 times an hour! So it made things like skype calls and paying for things on the internet a bit of a headache. I think the internet was fine but the equipment struggled with the number of people and connections.

- We had laundry done through the hostel. It came back just thrown in a bag instead of being neatly folded like every lavendaria i've used in South America. All the whites also had some green staining on them (there was nothing new being washed in the load). Best off finding your own lavendaria to do your laundry.

good location and nice staff, especially the owner, yet definitely could use some basic improvements. you have to pay for the internet which was very slow most of the time. rooms could be cleaner than they were. the kitchen is nicely equipped yet way too small for the amount of people who wished to use it. all in all it was ok and there's a lovely balcony upstairs to sit for a drink outside the DVD room.

Classic backpacker's hostel. In a very good location in a safe area. 10 minute walk to the metro and to restaurants and bars in Zona Rosa. Not the cleanest or the most comfortable but a good vibe to it. A good mix of people. Felt like when half the hostel was waking up, half the hostel was going to bed after a night of partying. I wouldn't want to stay for more than a couple nights but met people who had stayed for weeks. Depends what your looking for. Friendly staff.

I stayed here for 18 days in April 2013. A very good Hostel in Good Location and friendly staff. I also took private lessons in Spanish here. I recommend anyone who wants to learn Spanish to take a week or two here. The teacher was incredibly good at teaching.
