Good location. Direct access to the beach. Nice pool with a view on the beach. View from the room over the bay of Boca Grande and the old town is splendid. The rooms are recently refurbished, bright and spacious. They are still working on some of the floors e.g. 12th floor.

Breakfast buffet was a bit limited but fresh. Some of the staff were very friendly others were less bothered. Even on the cheaper rate, the hotel was quite expensive for what you get. For the amount you pay you would expect more facilities.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the higher floors. The view is breath taking.

Unfortunately we were in Cartagena for peak season, and like many big countries with a warm coast, I think Bogota and Medellin holidaymakers hit the beach in numbers. Which is not to say that Cartagena was unpleasantly full - it coped easily in terms of restaurants, beaches and sites, but the hotels were extravagantly expensive. As such it's not really the specific hotel's fault, but even then, very pricey. But very good position, ON the beach (no intervening road, like most of the other hotels on this strip). All in all fun.

Room Tip: Go high for that great endless sea feeling!

I just stayed at Hotel Dann for a week with 10 of my friends and loved the hotel and loved the service. The staff was very helpful and very curtious. The direct access to the beach is wonderful. Yes the vendors are relentless but you just have to wave them off and say "no thanks". The pool area is good size and very calm. I will definitely stay here again. I can't wait to go back.

My family and I stayed here for one night before we got our apartment across the street. We were impressed by the friendliness and courtesy of everyone at the hotel, including the front desk staff, the security and bellboys, and especially the waiters in the restaurant. They went out of their way to make our stay there wonderful.
The junior suite we had was spacious, clean and very modern. The shower was amazing and full of water pressure. The pool was ordinary but sufficed. The beach was crazy with lots of people, music and vendors but it was exciting to be part of the action. As for Laguitas and Bocageande...that's not the best location unless you like lots of traffic, noise, and partying. If you want the real Cartagena, stay in the Old City. It is so amazing.

We stayed in a gorgeous gorgeous room on the 18th floor (Penthouse). Spectacular view of the sea and lagoon. Could watch the sunrise and the sunset from the balcony--what a treat!

Pros: Great pool with direct access to beach and beach bar. The only hotel in this area that has that so it's definitely a bonus. Very good hotel service--at the front desk and around the hotel. Breakfast is included and the breakfast food was great. Would stay here again.

Cons: Beach is not a place of retreat. The hagglers are incredibly aggressive and it's almost impossible to sit and read a book in peace. If you want peace, sit by the pool and still get the view of the sea from it. Food for lunch and dinner is not great. Strongly recommend that you eat elsewhere and better yet, go to the old city. El Laguito is not exactly a wow area to stay. There isn't much to do and most of the fun is in the old city which is only 5,000-7,000 peso car ride (equivalent to 5-8 bucks).

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for the first half of our trip and for the rest of our trip, we stayed at another hotel in the walled city. It was perfect. I recommend doing this way if you want to have the beach and the old city experience.

Room Tip: Try to stay at the Penthouse level. I noticed standard rooms run a bit small

This was our second stay here. The location is the only one there that has the pool so close to the beach. This way you can either stay at the pool or hang on the beach and be pestered by people selling you things every minute. The thing we didn't know is the place is under construction and by the looks of it, it will before moths to come. They are putting in a new elevator so the banging and dust is everywhere. Even though we complained about the noise excessively the manager didnt talk with us or compensate us in any way. It's too bad the customer service is bad in that way.

Other thing about Cartagena is the beaches are dirty and the people on the beach seem to not care about it and pollute themselves. There are straws, spoons, bottle caps, and general crap all over the place.

The property boasts the most perfect part of the beach. No class locals offering sex , massages other items for sale. Try to be nice and they will continue to bother, if you are rude they will tell you to "[--]" yourself and threaten you. This is not the kind of crap I want to have to be subjected to on vacation. The maid asked why we did not take anything from the honor bar....didn't we like what was in there, if fact, we did not..she asked what we would like her to fill it with, we told her it was ok....but she insisted. Since we told her what we wanted, although we did not utilize anything from the honor bar, we were charged for it at checkout, we took them up to the room to show them there was noting opened, their response was, you asked for it.....................2 hours later....they decided to only charge us 80.00 instead of 232.00 originally charged. GOOD LUCK......HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE....only good thing was the tan...had to stay in the water or the prostitutes or the hustlers would bother you regardless of if you were with someone...very weird and unsafe.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your comments, we appreciate your feedback and had take actions to improve the internal hotel mistakes.

Unfortunately beaches in Cartagena are not regulated and they are also public, this is the reason we are not able to control what is happening in our surroundings, what we have done is improve our communication with the police and inform them about the suggestions that our guest give to us; so tourist can have a better experience in Cartagena.
