Spacious, charming, and comfortable with access to pool, restaurants, and Spa at the fabulous Sofital across the street. The service was excellent and we were very happy with the location. We were only there 5 days but had the opportunity to try two restaurants one block from hotel at the squarr and both were excellent. Lots of fun shopping for Colombian made products and art within walking distance. I recommend going into the town for best shops.

We had a fantastic stay at the Bovedas de Santa Clara. From check-in to check-out the staff was so helpful and truly wanted us to enjoy our stay. Myself, my husband and my friend stayed here for a wedding at the Sofitel. We had a perfect room: a king loft with private bath, a queen bed with second bath on the first floor, kitchenette, sitting area, and amazing balcony with a view of the sea. It was perfect for 3 people or even 2 couples or a family. The rooms were kept cool and quiet. We were able to utilize the facilities at the Sofitel - which was the icing on the cake since all our friends were staying there. Being able to bill food/drink to our room was amazing. Cartagena was incredible and if we go back, we will undoubtedly stay at the BSC again!

Room tip: The rooms that sleep 4 have 2 bathrooms and 2 sleeping areas!

Hotel Bovedas de Santa Clara is in a great location -- within the walled city but in the San Diego neighborhood that's toward the edge of town. Great restaurants and shops within 1 block. Souvenir shops around the corner. We loved our 2-story room - kids downstairs and adults upstairs. Breakfast is a nice buffet of fruits, cereals and breads, cheeses and salami, and the traditional Colombian snacks. Hotel showers are outstanding! Best we had in Cartagena. We LOVED that you can use the pool at the Hotel Santa Clara which is an amazing perk --- beautiful big pool to while away those hot Cartagena middays.

Beautiful and welcoming boutique hotel! The staff, especially Dianna, is terrific. We told them we were celebrating a birthday, and they decorated our room with roses and chocolate covered strawberries and went above and beyond!

I will say that the breakfast options aren’t great so if you have a choice as to whether to pay for it, I would perhaps forgo breakfast (it was included in our rate). That said, it was an easy option considering that most places in town open late.

I liked that it was a very small hotel (I think just 2 or 3 very small floors) but that you could use all the amenities at the Sofitel across the street. To me, that felt like the best of both worlds — small, friendly and intimate hotel but access to big-hotel amenities across the street.

Lastly, the room was HUGE! One of the biggest hotel rooms I’ve ever had for just two people.

This was our second stay at Bovedas, and it will be our last. Our room (402) was a bit neglected. The curtains were broken and the skylight shade didn’t open. One of the bathrooms was not cleaned one day. The toiletries were not replenished and we had to call and ask for more shampoo/conditioner. Beware: the water that is delivered in the afternoon is NOT complimentary (contrary to what the hotel description says on hotels.com) and they charge you for the in-room coffee. We had an extra person in the pull-out couch. We reminded them multiple times yet the couch was not made the first night. We came home late that night so there was nothing to be done. In addition, during check-out we had an issue with our bill with which they were very unhelpful and unprofessional. I do have to mention the delicious breakfast which is by far the best thing about this hotel. It is delicious and the breakfast staff is friendly, welcoming, helpful and just wonderful.

Room tip: Ask for a room that faces the street and not the courtyard, otherwise you will be waken up early when they start setting up for breakfast
