We thought that this hotel was OK......It does have a good location in the old town...everything was alright but just got the feeling they were going through the motions of running boutique hotel. It was reasonably clean, air conditioned, breakfast was good and quiet. The staff were reserved although helpful but didn't go out of their way to tell us about bicycle hire, activities etc.

We have stayed in a lot worse but if we return to Cartagena we will look elsewhere....

This hotel is located in the old town, so we could walk to everything. The room was okay. We had requested an extra bed which sat right next to the matted window. The light from the courtyard shone through the curtain making it a little difficult to sleep.

There is AC here, which is important. The shower water was hot. There is wi-fi.

The staff were lovely and helpful.

The floor wasn't that clean and although our room was made every day, the floor wasn't touched.

Room Tip: We were in Room 5. It is one of the more quiet rooms.

I booked after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. This is a small hotel. The pictures and description are very close to the real thing. It is built around a small court where you have breakfast in the morning. It provides a traditional, affordable stay but do not expect anything exceptional. Basic bed and bathroom in an a/c room, small but good breakfast and staff that barely speaks English. Not displeased with my stay; but pretty sure I would not return to the same next time.

Let me start of by saying Finding a hotel in Cartagena for around $100 a night is a hard task. There are some hostels where you can get a price under $100. When it comes to hotels this one is a great deal. Not to mention the location is perfect, in the middle of the walled city. You can walk anywhere inside the walled city from the hotel. The hotel is an old home renovated. The center is an open air courtyard where the breakfast is served. (Included, and very good) My room was a decent size, it did not have a window which might not work for some people. I did not mind because the buildings are so close together there wouldn't be anything to see anyways. The staff was very helpful, they always had somebody in the daytime that spoke english and could assist me. I was a bit nervous about staying here due to the lack of reviews I found online. After giving it a shot I would definitely stay here again.

We and another couple booked double rooms in Hotel Puertas de Cartagena using online services. The hotel had a great location near the centre of El Centro, the best of three sections of the walled city of Cartagena. We were within comfortable walking distances of the main plazas, museums and restaurants. Our room was comfortable and well appointed, with a comfortable, clean double bed, air conditioning, mini-bar and telephone. Breakfast, included in the price of the room, was served in a lovely courtyard. Staff were friendly and there was ususally at least one person working on the desk with a working knowledge of english. This comfortable hotel in a great location is priced reasonably.

Room Tip: Our room had windows onto the street, but our friends only had a small window onto the courtyard...

If what you're looking for is clean, functional, reasonably priced accommodation - this is your place. It is in an excellent location within the Old City, but it isn't the prettiest place around and doesn't have much atmosphere so you won't be spending alot of time here. The beds however are very comfortable, the staff pleasant and they serve a complete breakfast in the tiny courtyard area.

This is a small and quiet hotel set on a corner in a nice part of the old town (not the most touristy street). For 180,000 pesos we got an extremely spacious and lofty room with two large double beds (one was 2 singles that joined together). The attached bathroom was perfectly functional and clean. Colombia has had massive rainfall this year, and maybe as a result, the room had a slight smell of damp masonry. This did not bother me but could be an issue for others. By the lobby there was an internet enabled PC for guest use, and free WiFi was also available. Overall the hotel seemed slightly quieter and smaller in capacity than the Tres Banderas down the road. Opposite the hotel's front door there is a corner cafe and adjacent to it, a small family restaurant. Both are great options, and I particularly liked the lunch in the family restaurant (can't remember name now but will update post if it comes back to me). Most of the diners were Colombians and the food was really tasty and great value. Anyway, back to the hotel - I recommend it and would stay again.
