Great experience

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Feb 17, 2017
An excellent experience at this hotel, the fact that all the staff speak English is valuable. The bed, so comfortable, good mattress, quality sheets and pillows. And the service, was always friendly and efficient.

Beautiful ancient palace in the wall city, now turned into a Relais & Chateaux boutique hotel. The staff was lovely and attentive. The lobster is spectacular, make sure you try it! Ceviche is also a must! The spa is small but very cosy and relaxing, also worth to have a nice relaxing massage. They actually offer 15m foot massage to all guests, so enjoy! The owner Claude knows the city like no one and will give you precious advice. Definitely the best address of Cartagena!

Beautiful and historic 11 room hotel just down the street from plaza Santo Domingo in the historic district of the walled city. Great service from the GM Carmillo and all the staff. Beautiful and high cieling rooms and very nice outdoor pool and dining area. Relatively expensive but very safe and worth the money if you want to splurge

Our son and daughter-in-law had their wedding at the Casa Hotel Boutique Spa. It was a wonderful event, everythng was taken care of down to the last detail. The hotel is gorgeous and the venue is out of a fairytale. It is clean, spacious and plenty of room to have a good time and located very close to all restaurants and activities in the walled city. They made their wedding into a 4 day event. There were 76 people (friends and relatives alike). The wedding was planned by the wedding planner, Catalina Morales, with Eleganza Bodas and Events. Each of the nights that we were there were planned by the bride and groom. The first night we all met at the old wall and had drinks and then rented the 'party bus' for a ride (and lots of booze) around the city. The second night my husband and I were in charge of the rehearsal dinner.
It was held at VERA restaurant, just a few blocks away from where we all were staying. VERA restaurant is located in Tcherassi Hotel. It is an excellent restaurant with a beautiful setting and out-of-sight food. The third night was the wedding - you actually feel like you are on a movie set or that you are royalty or something. The Hotel Pestagua is fabulous. The days were spent sight-seeing, walking the streets or taking a boat to one of the islands where the water is crystal blue and snorkling is marvelous. My husband and I stayed in Cartagena for 9 days and throughly enjoyed ourselves. Everything is close, the people go out of there way to help. Just beware of the hawkers. They are only trying to make a living.

Lovely place with a pool and accommodating staff. We had a large room with all the amenities you can expect of a place like this. We had lovely cooked breakfast every morning before we set out to explore the town.

We spent NYE at Cartagena (5 nights) and were very pleased with our overall experience at Casa Pestagua. We actually discussed if we should rate it 4 ou 5 stars on Tripadvisor. We agree with previous comments but there where a few minor glitches, not even worth mentioning, and in our opinion Casa Pestagua would earn 4 stars if compared to top notch European Boutique Hotels (as we have stayed) but it deserves 5 stars considering this is Colombia and, specially, considering it probably has the best location in Cartagena - situated near most main attractions, including night venues (easy walks at night). At the same time once you step in, peace and quiet rules. This is an Oasis on a crowded and fun part of the city.
Big rooms, cosy and relaxing breakfasts, excellent Spa treatments, nice swimming pool to escape the mid-day hot weather (could be better cleaned and bring you insect repellant to the pool area in the afternoon), and we were happy to ask for the Hotel driver to take us to the airport, almost the same price but much more confort than a normal taxi.
There are areas that could be improved, but again, the fifth start is well deserved due to its location.
