Casa La Fe - a Kali Hotel

Perfectly located, nice staff, nice room, plunge pool on the roof. Stayed in their sister hotels in Santa Marta and Tyrona, all of the same high standard and good value for money. Really glad we spent the bulk of our trip with them. What more can I say, read the other reviews. If you want a Holiday Inn/Marriott etc. stay outside the old town. If you want to stay in the beautiful old town (and why would you want to do anything else???) this is the place to stay.

Room Tip: You may be disturbed by the breakfast service if you take a ground floor room

My daughter and I stayed here for five days celebrating her 21st birthday and it couldn't have been better. Wonderful little hotel, perfectly located right in the center of the gorgeous old walled town of Cartagena. Walking distance to all the sights and restaurants. It's a charmingly decorated, restored house with a lovely colonial feel (and all the modern conveniences like great bathroom, decent included wifi, bar fridge and good air con) overlooking a leafy park and staffed with friendly, helpful people. Barbara (who speaks English) was wonderful, as were the breakfast staff. Barbara organised a day trip to Isla del Sol for us which was a perfect day. Our balcony room overlooking the park was nice and roomy and the beds were comfortable.
A glass of wine or beer is provided between 6 and 7pm each day in the breakfast area. It was really nice catching up with other guests each evening, swapping travel stories and discussing things to do around Cartagena. The included breakfast is fairly standard fruit, eggs, toast and coffee but nicely done and very satisfactory. There is a small rooftop pool but we were too busy exploring the town to use it.
Reception provide a map of the walled city which has recommended restaurants, sights and grocery stores marked on it. The whole area is quite small, so it takes no time to find your way around.
We really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend

We stayed there for three nights in January and had a third floor balcony room. A very nicely restored colonial hotel with great charm and helpful staff. Was incredible to sit out on the balcony in the cool shade surrounded by bougainvillea and other flowering vines and and listen to the sounds of the square below and the chirping of the birds or the sounds of horses drawing carriages. Lovely location and was a great place to reread Gabriel Garcia Marquez "Love in the Time of Cholera" as much of it was centred in the square the hotel faces. The author's Cartagena house is down the street.
The hotel is well-situated close to great restaurants and sights of the city. The pool and lounge area on the roof -although small - was a nice respite from the afternoon heat.

This hotel is very different from the other three Kali hotels in Santa Marta and Villa Maria - all of which we stayed at. Casa La Fe is affiliated while the other ones are corporately owned. Don't expect them to be able to answer questions about the other hotels... but they will help you with transportation etc.

Would stay at Casa La Fe again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: If you don't like stairs then as for a room on the main or second floor. I imagine the courtyar...

Thanks for the review. Garbo's official biographer (Gerald Martin) also stayed in one of our balcony rooms for a month while he was finishing the book and said he wanted the best location and atmosphere for getting close to his subject. Its an extraordinarily detailed biography and highly recommended for Garbo fans.
Our affiliation with Kali hotels comes from my close friendship with the owner of the three establishments in Santa Marta. He is an American who stayed at Casa La Fe on several occasions in 2007/ 2008, liked what he saw and decided to do something similar in Santa Marta at my suggestion. The rest is history. We may not know all the intimate details of every hotel in our group but we work hard at coordinating joint stays to make them as seamless as possible.

Lovely little place in wonderful location, right in the middle of the tourist district yet with a neighborhood feel. Room was tastefully decorated, with very comfortable bed and modern bath with excellent shower. I had a balcony room which was quiet at night even right on the square. WiFi occasionally a little slow but worked fine, as did the a/c. The staff are warm, helpful and professional. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Quaint hotel, nice room, spartan breakfast, great staff, nice location. Next to a great restaurant, Fm,
and a cute park. If you like Cuban cigars, a bar specialing in them with a enclosed room is a block away. Ask.

Room Tip: Room 201 is away from the stairway.

We offer a buffet style breakfast - always a choice of two freshly pressed juices, whole and cut tropical fruits, sausages, arepas, eggs cooked to order, bread basket, jams, marmalade, coffee and tea. Eat as much as you like. This is not a spartan breakfast by any definition!

This is a wonderful hotel with an amazing staff. My wife and I stayed here for four nights in January and were very pleased. We opted to prepay for the hotel since they were offering a free airport pickup, which was nice if you are coming to any new city for the first time. From the moment we arrived at the hotel, right up until we left, staff made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Staff was also very helpful with any questions we had about getting around in Cartagena and how much taxi fares should be.

One thing that is particularly nice about this hotel is the rooftop pool. Although small, it was nice to take a dip in the pool in the middle of the day when it is sweltering hot in Cartagena.

If you are looking for a decently priced hotel in Cartagena, you can't go wrong with Casa La Fe.

Thank you for the review. We feel that a personal airport pick-up makes all the difference at the end of any journey to a new city. We offer this complimentary service for all stays of 2 consecutive nights or longer and for both Prepay and Regular rate bookings.

This is a compact hotel that is beautifully furnished to a high standard. The service and breakfast was very good. The small rooftop pool is pleasant for some sun and a cool dip. The standard bedrooms have little sunlight entering them but are comfortable, clean and very quiet.
I stayed Christmas Day and the day before. The hotel is ideally placed in the old town of Cartagena .

We went on a boat trip to the reef through the hotel-one word of caution is that the part of the reef we were taken to snorkel above is 85%dead although there were still some colourful fish to view.

Room Tip: If you want a window bringing in light then you must ask and probably pay more.
