“Wonderful boutique hotel in the heart of the old town”
Reviewed August 6, 2013 via mobile

Casa la fe is a gorgeous boutique hotel in an ideal location. The hotel itself, the individual room, and the service at the front desk was flawless and we were extremely satisfied here. The girls behind the desk did their very best to organise tours, and familiarise us with the town. The major draw card here though has to be the plunge pool on the roof - tiny, nevertheless it does the trick as Cartagena can get unbearable hot! It's perfect for a midday cool down before heading out again! Wifi was great all over the hotel except the rooftop pool. If I were to criticise it for anything it would be breakfast - it is a la carte which is fine but numerous times I asked for poached eggs on toast and kept getting scrambled eggs with arepa. Anyway - this is just my personal taste and likely a communication issue (I don't speak Spanish) but was slightly annoying. All in all, a fantastic hotel I would highly recommend to anyone.

The hotel itself, with its nicely furnished rooms and ambiance, would have warranted great reviews, but it was the employees of the hotel that will make me come back. They are helpful in every way, they make you welcome. My Spanish is limited to a few words, didn't matter, they helped us. You get the feeling that while you are their guest you will be cared for. I felt like I was at home. We got one of the front rooms with the balcony view of the street and plaza, worth it. Rooftop pool, very quiet in the morning, very nice for reading. One thing we never could remember to tell them was that the shower in our room was actually missing one the glass panels to the shower door so the water splashed out onto the floor, not broken, just missing, weird. Two things not great: the wifi sucks, the owner says he is aware and is working on it. The coffee is simply not up to par. Kind of like Dennys coffee, pretty bad actually, but I've got a high coffee standard. But it is free all the time, so that's nice. Overall, I'd stay again for sure, its right in the middle of the walled city, you can walk anywhere worth going on foot from here.

Room Tip: I'd choose the balcony view of the front two rooms although kind of noisy, you'll probably b...

My thanks to the client for posting this review. Offering good connectivity via WiFi is a priority for us. We currently get download speeds of 0.5 -1 Mbps in all rooms save one (where the client stayed!) and around 2 Mbps in public areas. We should have that last room fixed this week. The speeds are adequate for everything except perhaps streaming
Our coffee machine (which grinds fresh beans for each cup) is broken and awaiting a spare from Italy. In the meantime we are putting Colombian coffee in thermos flasks- not as good as freshly ground but definitely superior to Denys!

Located within the magical walled city. The hotel can help book beach and city tours. The breakfast is limited but satisfactory. The staff have a great attitude and are very helpful and courteous. The only downfall is that the AC is left off when you leave your room so when you return you will arrive to a humid hot room. The balcony was not enjoyed because in order to keep mosquitoes out we had to keep the doors closed.

Overal great experience. Would stay again.

We stayed 3 nights at Casa La Fe. Great value. Terrific service. The staff is super helpful. Loved having a balcony to look out at every evening. Lots of places to eat nearby. Right next door restaurant with fixed menu prices that were reasonable in otherwise expensive old city. Pool on roof is small but very charming and great to cool off in after a long day of sightseeing.

We arrived in the morning at Casa La fe and lounged for a while near the swimming pool on the rooftop to the greatest delight of Paloma ( 6yo ), Aristide ( 4yo ) and Esmeralda ( 6 months old ). Travelling with the tribe is never that easy but everybody at casa La Fe helped us make it smooth. They helped us organise the day trips ( Tolupo mud bath is...SPECIAL :-)), the Isla del rosario excursions and the taxis to and from the airport.
The breakfast under the shades was always a trip and set us up all right for the day, especially the Sunday local fare of areas. There are fancier, cheaper or more luxurious options in cartagena but if you want to feel at home, Casa la Fe is one option you should consider

Room Tip: Get a room streetside on the plaza if you want to enjoy a drink on the balcony at night.

Excellent location, clean, inviting, and good value. A European style small place. Rooms are rather small and the fan/AC can be a bit noisey, but I found the rooms cozy, comfortable, and inviting. Lovely courtyard where breakfast is served. Plus a picturesque rooftop mini (underscore "mini") pool with a few lounge chairs (it's underused, so chairs should be available). Breakfast is simple (eggs or tortilla, bread, juice, cafe, a basket with tangerines/bananas available) but tasteful and adequate in a restful courtyard atmosphere. Free drinks are served around 6 (again in courtyard; this latter is nice except when other guests smoke in the small space). Staff is friendly though their English is generally quite limited. If you're looking for the amenities of a luxury hotel, Casa le Fe isn't for you. But if you're happy with a charming, small, well located place with clean and welcoming accommodations at an affordable price, Casa le Fe is a lovely place to stay.

The location in the old part of town is good and easily found by taxi drivers. The hotel itself is in a nice colonial building with a neat patio where breakfast is being served.
The rooms are okay and well equipped with ceiling fan and A/C. The bathrooms are TINY.
Breakfast is a bit simple with no fresh fruit.
Same day laundry service at very reasonable price.
Value for money was ok but not exceptional.

Room Tip: There are only four rooms (2 on each floor) with balconies going out toward the street. All other ro...
