The Casa La Fe staff were excellent, especially Freddy could not do enough for us and recommended great restaurants.
Vladimir and Angelique were also very kind to us.
Cartagena is such a magical place but june has very high humidity would go back when it gets down to 65%.
Great restaurants food is high quality but it is not a cheap destination.

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter

Their customer service and location were awesome. They served breakfast daily that was delicious with fresh squeezed juice. We arrived early to the hotel and they accommodated us until our room was available.

We enjoyed our stay at Casa de la Fe very much-- the service from booking through check-out was excellent. The hotel is very comfortable and well located in the area of the Hotel Santa Clara. Though our room was not large, it was clean, comfortable, air conditioned and a good value. Rooms on ground floor are off the breakfast area, so could be a little noisy in the morning, we were on the second floor. Note there is no elevator, but staff will assist with baggage.

Room Tip: Rooms on ground floor open onto breakfast area, may be noisy in the morning.

We stayed in this hotel for two nights last week. The hotel is located in a very nice location in the Fernandez Maria Square within the walled city. We chose and paid for an upper floor room as the lower floor ones backed onto the breakfast area and would have been noisy in the mornings. The room was decent, although a little small and had A/C, fan, cable TV and a nice bathroom with hot water (there is also a safe in the room). The only real complaint with the room, which is common in Cartagena is that there were very few outlets to plug in electrics.

The staff in the hotel are very friendly and attentive; the price includes breakfast and a wine or beer for each person at night. Breakfast was basic, with 4 or 5 choices including an omelet with juice (from 7 am to 10 am). The room top plunge pool was nice and seemed relaxing although we did not use it much. It is a reasonably quick walk to Plaza Santo Domingo and other areas within the walled city. There is also an exito a few blocks away.

The Hotel will not charge foreigners for IVA as long as you have your passport. Our room on the 3rd floor for two people was 260 k. The ground floor was 240 k (nightly).

Room Tip: If you get a ground floor room you will have noise from the breakfast rest in the mornings.

staff was very friendly. breakfast was yummy each day. free drink for happy hour in the afternoons. wifi works great in lobby, not as well inside the room. we didn't have a window which would have been nice. only strange thing was that there was a shutter on the outside of the door. a person passing by could lift the shutter from the hallway and see inside the room. we stayed here two times during our trip. would stay again.

Pros: Freddie the manager gives great recs; great staff all around (limited English, but understands your mangled Spanglish); breakfast and happy hour are nicely included; cozy rooftop pool is perfect at end of a hot Cartagena day; location can not be beat (San Diego neighborhood); overall great mid-priced hotel in the heart of the old city.

Cons: Wifi can be spotty, and no wifi in second floor balcony room. Mosquitos in the room can not be avoided, but that's more of a Cartagena issue.

Note: Paid about 200 per night in May 2013 for the second floor balcony room, but I think it is usually much less at Casa La Fe.

Room Tip: Agree with some other reviewers that paying extra for room with balcony is not worth it, given the h...

Thanks for the report. The current Prepay price for a balcony room is $167 pn. WiFi comment is a mystery as the nearest router is located directly outside the balcony rooms. We know WiFi is essential for many guests and Freddy is on hand if you have connection difficulties.

Great hotel!! Staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. They even spoke English which is unusual for Cartagena. Room was charming and very clean. We had the largest room overlooking the square with the loft which was NOT too noisy as some reviews said. There is a happy hour and complimentary coffee bar all day long. Location is safe and convenient to restaurants but not too touristy. Breakfast was quite extensive. The roof deck is lovely, the pool is very very small.

Room Tip: We loved having the balcony overlooking the square.
