This hotel has been in marketed in magazines in the US. As a Colombian, decided that had to bring my US friends to Cartagena, show the beauty of the old town, there are many options in hotels, but he had to go with this one. We needed 3 rooms, of which one of them (in-laws) booked 3 months before hand, and when we showed up, they said that their reservation was CANCELED. They never received a cancellation notice or anything like that, we had to go strolling for my in-laws room, since the other 2 were not canceled, and they wouldn't let us go without a penalty (it was their fault that they never told us one room was canceled) and finally got another room in a very nice boutique hotel, with great rooms and service. Defeated the purpose of staying all together though.

Old city in Cartagena is gorgeous, the only room worthy of the trouble of cancellation without notice, is the one with a balcony to the square, otherwise, every hotel around it, is just as nice as the other. So don't overpay here, if you want to go big, go Santa Clara, if not, go to any of the old city ones, the colors and decor of the city are awesome.

Human memory is fallible, our booking database is factual This client made multiple attempts to book a LOWER ROOM for 3 persons which is an impossibility and each time we declined his booking, explained the reason by email response and made no charge against his card. Final correspondence received from client was a request to inform him if a room for three persons opened up for his dates.

I recently stayed at Casa La Fe on the recommendation of a co-worker who also stayed there. IIt was also recognized in the NY times last year. ts a very cute bed and breakfast in the heart of old town Cartagena. It was perfect for walking around, sightseeing etc. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were decent. My only complaint during my stay there was the BED. It was HORRIBLE. Hard as a brick! So much that my husband said he felt like someone was beating him up every night. Unfortunately during our stay in Cartagena we got sick (food poisoning from an outside restaurant- a well known one called La Casa Socorro) and had to stay in the room for an entire day. It was rough, between being sequestered to the room, not having a decent bed to layon after regular trips to the bathroom was NOT pleasant. I can't speak for the other rooms in the hotel so maybe it was just ours but they need to change those out immediately. Also, although breakast is very nice, the portions are way to small. It was like eating a kiddie meal. We were always still very hungry afterwards. They should also serve fresh fruit which was not on the menu. I would still recommend this place though b/c of the location and the very nice staff. And one last comment, make sure you do NOT stay on the lower level, otherwise your room is right in the breakfast area and you will have people literally eating breakfast outside your room!!! Oh and the free Wi-Fi and Direct TV was great. We didn't miss a minute of the NBA playoffs!:-)

We have firm beds but few guests find them uncomfortably hard and we can always provide an overlay mattress IF REQUESTED. Our menus give guests six choices of breakfast, all served with freshly pressed juices. Complimentary espreso cafe (Italian machine, Colombian coffee beans) is available 24/7 on the patio. Criticism over size of breakfast portions seems a little bit harsh!

Hotel location is perfect as it is on a square near a lot of good restaurants and felt safe to walk back to after night out drinking. everything feels like it is walking distance and very easy to get round the town.

after 3 weeks of travelling in colombia staying in a mix of hostals and mid range hotels it was great way to end the holiday. we had a lovely room 306 with a balcony that is set over two floors with double bed downstairs and twin beds upstairs.it overlooks the square but we had no problems with noise. the upstairs terrace has a small pool which no one seems to use so we had it to ourselves and was very relaxing. breakfast is served in a colonial style courtyard and food was really good with a selection of 6 different options from museli with fruit & yoghurt to my favourite a tortilla stuffed with ham, tomatoe, cheese. highly recommend this place and staff were very helpful.

We spent five nights at Casa La Fe. It's a pretty B&B, best thing about it is the location. Our room was large but located right across from the hotel computer. We were pretty surprised to see the hotel staff sitting at the computer when arriving to or leaving our room. This happened frequently, it wasn't cool. While the roof deck offerred nice views, I'm still regretting that I entered the pool before taking a closer look at the water. The pool water was really, really dirty. I showered a few times that same day and even though it's a few days since we left, it's hard to shake that soupy, gross feeling of the dirty pool water. AC in the room did not work well and the staff kept turning off the fan when we left which was irritating. While I would recommend Casa La Fe, be sure to check the pool before you enter.

I mistrust reviews that award five stars in all departments. That's why I've given Casa la Fe only four in "sleep quality" sector - just to make the point that nothing in life can be perfect. What's amiss in the sleep category? Only this; that if you like silence, then the very heart of the old city of Cartagena may not be for you!
But for us it was FANTASTIC. Casa la Fe is set on the shaded side of a square (I think it's the city's only hotel in a square) where the heartbeat of this old Caribbean city provides a magical setting.
I give all the other departments five stars because Geoff and Carmen, and their smiling attentive staff, make this well-run hotel seem like home. When you come in off the throbbing city streets and step into the cool and elegant courtyard, it does feel like you're in a special place. We fell in love with Cartagena, and we fell in love with Casa la Fe.
