Titote is easy to miss as you stroll along the old town of Cartagena. However it would be a huge shame to visit Cartagena and not eat at Titote. This is because Titote is easily the best restaurant on the Caribbean coast of Colombia.
Beyond the fairly anonymous looking glass doors the restaurant is housed in a cavernous colonial building with an open kitchen and two bars. On the particular evening I dined, I was entertained by an excellent Cuban band. The atmosphere was wonderful and the service attentive without being fussy.
However the food is the real star of the show. Easily as good as you'll find in the very best restaurants in London, incredibly fresh and cooked to order in the open kitchen. The menu consists of a number of traditional Costeno / Caribbean dishes, lots of seafood, stylish Colombian food and other experimental plates. I had the house special, seafood casserole: incredibly tasty, very fresh and presented extremely well. The deserts are equally special.
Top service too. If you are in Cartagena you need to dine at this restaurant at least once. I guarantee it will be the best dining experience of your trip.
