“great cerviche but nothing else”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

I went there for my boyfriend's birthday because he loves cerviche. The food was excellent but the menu is very small. No starters and no deserts. Only a few drinks available and they are expensive. We only spent 30 minutes there and although it was great quality, I normally expect to spend at least 1 hours in a restaurant. A shame they only offer a few dishes.

“Dissapointing”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

Not even close to being the best ceviches in Cartagena (La Cevicheria takes that spot), strange flavors and bland food. Good quality ingredients, fresh fish and vegetables but poorly executed dishes . Service was good on account of the waiter, the rest of the staff was less than helpful. Some blue neon lighting makes the ambieance feel cold and out of place. Only cash, no credit or debit cards accepted that day.

“Excellent Cebiche!”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

We went as a group of 5, and all tried different Ceviches, and they were all delicious! The coconut, the tamarind and the rest were excellent! We also had pulpo in a potato foam that was tender, warm and tasty. Definitely worth it! It is a small, cute place, and seems like everything is good. It is not cheap by Cartagena standards, but it is well worth it. The wait staff can be a bit overbearing or opinionated, but you just take what you want from them and make your own choices. We had a great time and a fine meal!

“Boutique Cerviche and excellent service”
Reviewed August 6, 2013

Came across this place because it was near our accommodation. Relatively new in a small intimate space we had a great time.

The chef has trained with Gaston Acurio (famous Peruvian chef) and obviously has learnt a few things. We tried the Tamarind and a creamier cerviche and both were creative and executed very well.

Can't even remember the price because we had such a wonderful experience but it was very reasonable I recall.

“Awesome Ceviche and Crabmeat Empanadas!”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

My wife and I went in for dinner the other night as we had heard the Ceviche was awesome. It's a small place that we found to be cozy and intimate.
The chef works right out in the open and you can see everything he is creating.
There are about 5 different ceviches to choose from, and we had the one which was tamarind infused. All the seafood was fresh, nothing frozen here. It was one of the most exotic tasting dishes we've ever had. I understand the coconut ceviche is even better!
As an additional appetizer, we tried the crabmeat empanadas. I'm not normally a fried guy, but these were cooked perfectly, no grease or sogginess, and the crabmeat was fresh. Honestly, these were the best empanadas I've ever had..
They also make a cocktail with aguardiente and a local berry, which is another exotic treat I recommend.
We then shared the mixed seafood grill, and again, everything was fresh with incredible attention to detail. It's not the cheapest place in town, but not the most expensive either.
You might want to save El Boliche for later in your trip, because once you 've tried their Ceviche, I don't think you'll want to eat anyone else's.
