I went for a conference. Cartagena was hot. The resort is new, a year old, so faciliities are clean and in excellent condition. The service is excellet, people are great. The complex is located in a new zone that is current under development, so there are not a lot options for dining outside. Take advantage of the free service that takes you to the old city.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience, your feedback is very important for our continuous improvement.

We are pleased to read your comment, as we realize that you enjoyed the resort, especially the variety of our services.

As you very rightly say, we are located in a developing area and gastronomic offers are only found in hotels, like ours for example; you can find 7 restaurants of local and international cuisine. But if you prefer to enjoy an experience in the walled city, we have our bus that takes you free, plus, our Concierge can recommend which restaurant to visit and likewise make your reservation.

We hope to see you again with us. If you like, you can share pictures and other experiences whit us.

A big hug!

I stayed here 3 nights for a conference. I was pleased by the level of service and amenities offered at the property. I appreciated the English speaking staff throughout the hotel. I stayed in the new tower with a fabulous view of the beach. The room was large, modern and clean. The bathroom had a tub and next to the tub a rain shower head. Toiletries included soap. shampoo, moisturizer, conditioner - I didn't recognize the brand, but it seemed like quality stuff. The property is spacious. The complimentary breakfast buffet included US and local style items. There is also a really nice complimentary spacious gym with a wide choice of machines, weights, and mats.

There are multiple pools that seemed very well maintained and with ample seating areas. There were a few minor inconveniences. First, service in and around the pool and beach was nonexistent. Second, there's a required "towel deposit" of 25,000 pesos (about 15 USD). You must remember to bring your towel back and you need to worry if someone walks off with your towel.

A really nice surprise was the complimentary shuttle service into the old town. It ran just about every hour with the last return after 9pm.

I would recommend this hotel for both business and pleasure.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience, your feedback is very important for our continuous improvement.

We are very happy that you enjoyed our facilities, in particular that you could appreciate all the details in the room and bathroom. We are also pleased that you loved the amenities, which are a unique line of the hotel called "Sea Forest".

We apologize for having withheld money in the towel service, as our guests should not be asked for any deposit. This is only for visitors who spend a day with us or for those who pay when the towel is lost. However, no guests are required to make a deposit, with the room number is enough.

We hope to see you again with us. If you wish, you can share pictures and other experiences.

Big hug!

I have been twice in January 2012 to this Hotel what is about 10-15 minutes by car from the Historic Center of Cartagena. I stayed both times in the new tower what was just recently finished. I had stayed a couple of times in the old part of the hotel but wouldn't stay there anymore. The rooms have a decent size and the plus is that everything is still brand new. The breakfast buffet is just average and the restaurant has unfortunately no charme at all, looks like a Cantina. The pool area is a dream for each kid, enormous and spacious. Because of the location of the pool, from the early afternoon on it stays more and more in the shade. On top of the roof in the 10th floor is an "just adult" pool and bar area, what is relaxing and has an incredible view. The beach is right in front of the hotel and is very strict supervised with guards, you feel absolutely safe there. The very long stretched beach invites to walk and try some water sports. The location of the hotel is perfect for families and people who want to stay by the beach, in the evening there is not much you can do outside the hotel, you have to take a cab to go downdown.

Room Tip: All rooms are still brand new. Ask for a room as high up as possible and you have an amazing view ov...

I stayed in the "Tower" portion of the resort - the less than 3 year old half and clearly built to attract business customers. Other than a lack of hot water (which wasn't the end of the world given the climate) the room, gym, restaurants, bars, pool, etc was fantastic. Because the setting was so formal I went next door to the original outdoor dining hall in the older portion - it felt more like I was on holiday surrounded by the kids and families. And distinctly more relaxed with the parrots and greenery. Buffets for breakfast were great and tasty albeit expensive. We left the resort for restaurants in Cartagena during the latter part of the day - better prices and options. Pools on both sides were very clean and staff friendly. The rooms in the older portion were under renovation and those with balconies and hammocks away from the pool view looked really lovely. The sea is murky here - mixed in with river run off - not a clear blue Caribbean sea but lovely and warm. We did find the hotel had charged us repeatedly for unexplained taxes at the end but when we pointed it out they were removed.

Room Tip: rooms in the older portion facing away from pool areas and towards the Tower would be quietest!

The hotel has modern and well equipped rooms and facilities. At Torre del Mar the gym opens at 5am, perfect if your going in a business trip. The business center is perfect for meetings. Also I highly recommend a visit to the SPA, great ambiance, wonderful massages and the water cycle therapy is renewing.
Within the Resort there are many restaurants and each one has its own unique charm.
The hotel is not so close to the historical city center, but hourly shuttles drive you in and out.

We (family with two small kids) have stayed at the Las Americas Global Resort (Casa de Playa) on previous occasions and were looking forward to stay in the brand new extension, Torre del Mar.
The location of the hotel, outside the main city and with a semi-private beach, is excellent. It's a 10-15 minutes taxi ride from the old city and if you're mainly interested in beach and pool, it is the right choice. There are a number of new pools which are rather pleasant and you can still access the pools of the Casa de Playa - so plenty of choice there. The beach is clean and pleasant and one feels very safe.
As for the hotel itself, it is brand new and modern, counts with all the amenities such as Spa, Fitness etc. The rooms are spacious and well apointed, although the finishing lacks some finesse and one could imagine that over the course of the time, it won't look that good anymore.
Like the rooms, the reception area, the bar and the restaurant are all very modern but somehow lack atmosphere. It's difficult to describe it but it gives more the impression of a modern hospital than a holiday resort - something went wrong in terms of interior design (and I generally love modern design).
On the other hand, the fitness and the spa area are very pleasant and inviting with some excellent service.
The restaurant offers quite good food, although not really exceptional. We had lunch at the hotel and went to the old city for dinner which we found quite pleasant and which contributed to the overall experience.
In summary, it is probably one of the best hotels around and the location is really good. We will go back, despite the atmosphere which we found a bit cold. The fact that you have access to a really good beach and can also use the older facilities of the Casa de Playa give you plenty of oportunity to enjoy your holiday.

Room Tip: Standard rooms are spacious and well apointed.

New hotel located next to the airport with 10 minutes drive to the Walled city( old town). Hotel has a transportation to the center, but i wouldn't count too much to that. During our 10 stay on this property it didn't run on 3 nights (carnival time) and also at least 2 time when we tried to use it the bus newer came for some reason. However taxis are cheap, so no problem of getting to the airport.

Staff could speak little better english. Front desk staff almost the onlyones that can communicate with english, don't expect others to do that. I think that hotel like this should have staff with more language skills if they wan't to consider themselves "worldclass" or bit "luxury" property.

Breakfast decent, i did miss little bit more variation to the foods as they were mostly the same every other day.

Very nice pool areas. The main pool was a bit crowded during weekends but still enough room for all The pool on the 10th floor had a great views and nice atmosphere also. You can also take advantage of the other pools at the old wing (las americas global resort).

Beach isn't the prettiest, but in cartagena's scale good. Not much vendors also around to bother you (they just walk throught the beach sometimes)

Hotel room average. I didn't found anything to be wrong with it, not just exactly my style. Also there wasn't any information on the room of anything about the hotel. There is a room service, but no menus for that in the rooms. These infos would be a nice to see, althought at this time we didn't need those.

Overall i did enjoy this hotel, mainly bacause of nice pools and quiet surroundings. I do still think that if they want to consider to be one of the best in cartagena there is still some way to go. Next time i would maybe go (if the Sheraton isn't already ready) to Hilton where i belive that staff is more international.

Room Tip: make sure you get a ocean view
