We arrived into Cartagena very late in the evening so there was no one at the front desk when we got to the hotel. A very nice man let us in and after telling him we had a reservation, we were then escorted to our room (more like apartment). The room was spectacular! A foyer / eating area, full kitchen, living room, washer/dryer and separate bedroom and bathroom. There was no TV in the living room, only bedroom, which we thought was a little odd but we didn't really need it; only to watch the news in the morning while having breakfast. Each morning they bring you either a traditional Colombian breakfast or American style breakfast. It is a great touch and nice to have it served in your room. The pool on the roof is very nice but small. It is definitely a small hotel so don't expect to have a bar area on the roof, or in the hotel, like some of the other places. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay. Great location and staff was friendly. We recommended our friends stay here two weeks later, which they did and had a wonderful time also!

Unforgivable. The lady who runs this place stalled us for weeks when we wanted to sign a contract, then a MONTH BEFORE OUR WEDDING informed us that the rooms we had wanted for our party of 22 were no longer available because someone else had booked online. If not for another amazing house that opened up like a miracle - Casa del Mar on the wall of the old city (they also charged us less for a better value) - then our wedding would have been ruined for certain. I almost let this go, but for the fact that in her undying obliviousness and casual audacity the owner/manage sent me a facebook invite to her group - which re-lit the infuriating fire inside me. THANKS FOR NOTHING, Casa Claver. And no, I will not join your facebook group.

Room Tip: Go to another place.

We apologize for any inconvenient caused and hope to have you in a next opportunity in Casa Claver so you can have a great experience in our hotel and enjoy all our services.
Unfortunately the case was that Casa Claver has only six exclusive rooms which are highly demanded and availability varies day to day. Almost all hotels in the world, including Casa Claver, manage a reservation system that confirms a reservation after a credit card number is given, a contract is signed or part payment in advanced is made which surely in this opportunity neither of these was made on time.
We appreciate your suggestions and comments.

This hotel is more like a huge house with huge rooms for short term rent. The rooms are done nicely with a rustic feel and the patio is delightful early evening accompanied with a glass of wine. This hotel is ideal because it is close to the centre of the antique city and is on one of the streets that gets closed off after 5pm - excellent for getting dropped of in a horse carriage after exploring the town at night. One comment that I can make in regards to the hotel is that it is definitely more like a house full of gorgeous rooms as opposed to a hotel; there is no phone in the room and you will need to buy food outside if you are craving a late night snack. Or bottle of wine ; )

We felt like we were staying with rich friends rather than at a hotel. The building architecture was really interesting, especially the first floor and rooftop deck. The rooms are fantastic - marble showers, large, modern, clean, well decorated. There are two small pools (one downstairs in the courtyard and one on the roof.) The staff cooks delicious breakfast, keeps the place immaculate, and is there if you need them, but is otherwise invisible. Truly a luxury experience. We couldn't have been happier with our stay.

Room Tip: Request the room on the rooftop

I recently travelled to Cartagena with three girlfriends and stayed for almost a week at Hotel Casa Claver.

The hotel was just as beautiful as pictured on the website, and the location could not be more ideal for all the major sights and restaurants within the walled city. Our loft was quite roomy, and had very chic decorations but our favorite part of the hotel was the amazing rooftop pool with 360 views over the city. Although we were told the hotel was full, we never even saw another guest during our entire stay. Lastly, when compared with what I saw listed on other hotel websites, Casa Claver is a fantastic value.

Stayed in loft #301 on a girls trip with three friends. Casa Claver arranged our transport from the airport, as well as helped us make dinner reservations and arranged a volcano trip for us during our stay. We don't speak much Spanish; however Maria speaks perfect English and was very helpful.

Our loft was spacious and beautifully designed. Very comfortable. Breakfast was brought up to us each morning and it was delicious! The rooftop pool is amazing. There are lovely views of the city and Caribbean and everything is very clean and well maintained.

There were other guests at Casa Claver while we were there, but we hardly knew it. We always had the pool to ourselves and everything felt very private.

After researching prices at various hotels in Cartagena, Casa Claver turned out be a really great value. Would definitely recommend it.
