The best things about this hotel are the location and the staff. Located in the heart of the walled City you are close to everything: shopping, good restaurants, very nice parks and you're surrounded by exquisite ancient architecture. The staff are very friendly and helpful - really sweet and helpful people.

The hotel is built around a central interior courtyard meaning that most rooms don't have an external facing window, so they are pretty dark. This design also makes noise carry into the rooms quite a bit but not enough to disturb our rest.

Rooms are of reasonable size but nothing special. Our hot water never worked properly, which is disappointing at $100 per day but not really a big problem when temps are in the 90's.

There is a very nice rooftop terrace with a great view of the area where they serve a good - not great- breakfast. No other food service though.

We were here around New Years which probably explains the high price they charged. Over all I liked this hotel but would try another place if I return to Cartagena.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a door facing the courtyard

Compare the Hotel Don Pedro de Heredia to a five star resort (like, say, the nearby Sofitel), and one can only conclude that the Don Pedro, with its tiny pool and homey little lobby, is no five star resort. That said, the place was perfect for us in almost every way. The fifth floor open-air breakfast bar, with its views to the city, was a great way to start the day, and the food -- including fresh cut fruit and scrambled eggs -- was excellent. The rooms were very clean, and the shower was fine with plenty of warm water. The beds were very firm; in fact, the mattress was memory foam, which we prefer. And the ladies at the desk were very helpful to us in making reservations for restaurants and activities.

One little nit: the free Wi-Fi could have been stronger. It was a little frustrating not to reliably be able to access technology.

Highly recommended and fairly priced.

The service, location, food, comfort was top of the line. The price @$150 per night for three guests was a little more expensive than I thought we should pay in Colombia but after staying for three days, we understood why the price was comparable when all things considered. We checked out at 5 a.m to catch a plane and it was an easy check out with a bill that could be easily understood. All three male guests felt it was a good deal.

Room Tip: Room 403 was roomy and comfortable for 3

We got a last minute cancellation from Casa De La Fe in Cartagena, so ended up booking Don Pedro De Heredia and we were super pleased.
- It is clean and very comfortable, the breakfast spread is awesome and the kitchen staff very friendly.
- The front desk staff is super helpful and helped us with our further bookings etc.
- Location of the hotel is just fantastic. Right in the center of the old town and we could go walking to every single place.
We were there with 2 kids, the kids enjoyed the place and the staff was very welcoming to them as well.

Room Tip: I like the balcony room, slightly more noisier, but it was nice to step out in the balcony and peopl...

The booking process was easy and painless. I called and spoke with friendly staff members who made sure to send my confirmation number through email. My husband and I stayed here through Christmas for 3 days and 3 nights. It was an amazing stay! Our room had a balcony looking out over the street. And even though it was noisy, this was exactly what we wanted, to be right in the heart of the old walled in city! The breakfast patio has an incredible view of the city, not to mention the breakfast was delicious. Just above the breakfast patio is the solarium, which offers even more amazing views. Just a few doors down is a grocery store, and basically everything else is within walking distance. I loved the open balcony inside, which had such lovely displays of local vegetation. There is a pool, though a little small. The only minor complaints we have are the water temps (barely luke warm), and the restaurant the concierge recommended our first night there. I'd like to think we were fortunate that I speak Spanish, because it seems as if the hotel and the restaurant they sent us to may have kind of "agreement". After a few moments of sitting down, I noticed every single patron was a foreigner, and most didn't speak the language. The food was excellent, but pricey. Other than that, it was a great experience and we intend on staying again in the near future!

The hotel is located inside Cartagena's ancient (walled) city, it's very close to all the best restaurants and bars in the city. It's a small hotel but with lots of charm. The staff is very nice and helpful. There is a tiny pool by the reception that looks nice, even with a couple of loungers. All rooms face the indoor patio and pool. The rooms are nice and comfortable, with kickass AC (it actually got a bit too cold). Breakfast at the rooftop was nice, it included made-to-order eggs and the standard buffet. I would definitely stay there again.

My daughters and I loved this hotel, from the shady pool (ideal to spend the afternoon when it was too hot to do much else) to the roof-top terrace with its wonderful views. Defnitely the best breakfast anywhere in our Colombian odyssey in the delightful 4th floor dining room with its open sides. Obliging staff with good English. A couple of things didn't work though, which was irritating - the safe, and the air-conditioner packed up and refused to be anything other than a fan after a power cut. Briliantly central - I kept saying how glad I was not to be staying in some multi-storey anonymous Hilton somewhere way outside the city walls.
