“Loved it”

Had a great time at this hotel.  Originally booked a room over the phone at the cheaper place, Hotel Villa Colonial, but they were doing minor construction, and offered to move us here.  The price was higher, up from 90,000 to 120,000/night for a room with two beds and AC, but being tired from the flight we decided to just take it and once we saw the place we decided to stay 5 more nights.  Nice rooms, lovely courtyard, and very secure as there's a locked front gate and a 24 hour desk clerk who buzzes you in.  Everyone who worked there was very nice and super helpful.  Not a lot of English spoken here, I don't think, if that's gonna be an issue for you, but it seems like a few of the staff members are taking English classes, and they're so patient and friendly, I suspect that if you bring a pocket dictionary and some patience of your own you should be alright.
Location wise, we loved the neighborhood. This stretch of Calle Media Luna is known for its nightlife, so in the evenings there's some "colorful" characters that go along with that (as in any city) but it basically seemed like a normal colombian working class neighborhood. Lots of good, cheap places to eat, and there's a great little plaza down the street where the locals hang out in the evenings, just sitting around talking and watching kids kick a soccer ball around.  You can grab a cerveza Aguila from the corner store, and a snack from a food cart and enjoy a warm Caribbean evening lazing around with the friendly locals. I suppose some would call Getsemani "sketchy," but then I could call the Old Town (as beautiful as it is) sterile, touristy and overpriced, so I guess it just depends where your coming from and what kind of experience you're looking for.  All around great hotel, though.

The hotel was lovely. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and very helpful and informative. The hotel was cool and clean which was a welcome relief from the Colombian heat! Our room was cleaned everyday and was really quiet. Air conditioning was a bonus too! We had a great stay - thank you.

My travel partner and I showed up at this hotel after we were kicked out of another hostel within the walled city. We had no reservations, but thankfully there was room and Ana even gave us a discount. All of the employees were very friendly and helpful. We had almost given up on Cartagena's customer service, but thankfully this hotel saved our vacation. The place is absolutely beautiful! Not only are the rooms spacious, cleans, and very comfortable, the lounge areas are very relaxing with their high ceiling fans and inviting couching. They have a small kitchen that is available for guests to use and a very romantic dining area right off the kitchen. If you're looking for an upscale, yet affordable accomodations this is the place. Maybe not the best place for penny-pinching backpackers. I LOVE THIS PLACE!

Room Tip: Rooms with private balconies gives the place a more colonial feel! Rooms towards the back are a bit...

My reservation wasn't recognised when I arrived late one night so although they offered me an alternative, I choose to find my own which turned out to be a lot more expensive. I was mad as hell & went back to the Casa Villa Colonial in the morning to tell them so but was met by the owner's son who apologised directly & professionally. He fixed me up with better accommodation than what I'd paid for & made sure I had a great visit. If the 3 Germans who were in the same position when I arrived that night & were equally mad, please get in touch & I'll tell you the whole story. The moral of this episode ? Give the management a chance to correct their error. Sometimes things go wrong even in the best all hotels across the world, the only open question is how management deals with it. Casa VC made it right for me.

It is a very good hotel for the price. The location is great in the heart of Getsamani main street and not noisy.
The staff has been super helpful with us. They suggested visits to make and restaurants to go to.
Bedroom is spacious with aircon and the patio is very pleasant. We highly recommended it.

We have had a lovely stay here! The rooms are beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean, with a fan and aircon. The area feels safe, but even so, the front door is locked and buzzer operated. The staff are charming and helpful, and will organise trips and tours for you. The location is good, in a fun area about 10m walk from the best restaurants and bars in the old city. All in all, a great place to stay in Cartagena.

The hotel is ok, clean and the staff friendlz. Unfortunately this is not a good choice if you came here to sleep. The restaurant next door is pumping music that makes even watching TV difficult.
