Great customer service, ambience and food! We were sent there for one night due to our hotel had overbooked rooms. I could have been treated better. This Hotel deserves to be a 5 star hotel, with large rooms and great one on one personal service.

This is just a perfect hotel when you are visiting Cartagena.

The rooms are large, clean and comfortable.
The breakfast is great, and the restaurant is the best in town.

All the staff is very helpful and friendly and the service is in top.

We will be back.

Just returned from a wonderful stay at hotel Ananda in Cartegena. We were welcomed by the wonderful staff and loved this hotel. Extremely comfortable beds and gorgeous decor. Location was great, as we could walk to any destination from the hotel. Breakfast was served in a beautiful courtyard, the pools were small, but we needed them to cool off in the heat. The views from the rooftop pool were great of the old city. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who prefers a boutique hotel over a large chain hotel. It was charming, clean, friendly, and overall GREAT! I hope to be back to Ananda someday!

We are a family with 3 small kids and spent 2 nights in the hotel which was fabulous.
The welcome on check in was very nice and we got an upgrade straight away to a bigger room.
Breakfast was satisfying and the atmosphere was great.
The hotel itself is very well designed, up to the small details with spectacular architecture.
We decided to stay in for dinner at the Carmen restaurant at the hotel. They didn't have the dish that the kids wanted but they arranged it to be ordered from a different restaurant and serve it together with our food which was a great solution for us.
This we think represents part of the idea behind the word 'Boutique'.
We found that the location of the hotel worked very good for us. On one hand it was close to all the attractions in the old city and on the other it was peaceful and quiet.

We (2 adults 2 girls 12 and 10) spent 5 days for Thanksgiving break in Cathagena. When making the reservation I hesitated between Sofitel Santa Clara and a Boutique Hotel.
Our choice went to Ananda based on the website and the Trip Advisor review.

We got a King superior suite for the parents : large , high celling, nicely decorated, just a little bit too dark and a junior suite for the kids.

The hotel is small and nice (great sundeck roof top)with staff trying to do the best to accomodate you (specially ...)

Have just in mind :
- the swimming pool is small (so the kids would rather go the Sofitel to enjoy their facilities...)
-in the hotel patio , there is the restaurant Carmen part of the hotel (considered the best of Cartagena according to Trip advisor)s so expect some noise until 10-10.30 pm

Dear deny67,

Thank you very much for your very good and thorough review of the Anandá Hotel Boutique in Cartagena. We are very glad you enjoyed your stay! Our pool is small compared to the pool of the Santa Clara, but it is considered by many to be the biggest and best pool of a boutique hotel in the city :)

We hope you come back and stay with us again!

Best regards and thank you once again,

I recently took a spontaneous trip to Cartagena, Colombia that was amazing, and I had always wanted to go. Good thing to note- JetBlue flies directly to Colombia from New York City in 4 ½ hours.

Not only was my trip relaxing, but also I was able to experience a new place and all that it had to offer. Cartagena is an absolutely beautiful city with flower-lined streets and incredibly friendly people. The city was the first Spanish colony on the American continent and one of the first sanctuaries of freed African slaves in the Americas.

I stayed at the Ananda Hotel in the old city/walled city, which was extremely well kept, quiet, and the food was amazing. One of my favorite things about the hotel was their roof top pool, which was also quite and peaceful.

I also spent some well-deserved time at the Sofitel Hotel Spa and had several wonderful massages by a woman named Sonia. This was literally one of the most gorgeous spas I have ever been to. I also ate there, which was also fantastic.

The massage that I enjoyed the most was called “SO” and it was an exhilarating and soothing body massage that used signature techniques that shapes and tones your silhouette.

One experience that I will never forget from this trip was a visit to the mud pool at Volcan del Totumo. I did some prior research on this excursion, and read that it would be to my benefit to go later in the day to miss the “mud rush hours.” I hired an amazing translator, Rafael Herrera, rafaeloso89@yahoo.com, and we took a private car instead of taking a tour bus. This was a good decision.

When it was my turn to lie in the mud, I had one of the most unusual experiences of my life, but one of the coolest. Never the less, I was lying in a pool of mud at the crater of a small volcano. The most interesting part to me was that you could float in the mud without sinking. After lying there for a while, I was given an included massage that relaxed me even more.

If you are planning a trip, the experiences that I listed are a must. Of course, part of traveling is making it your own, and don’t forget to relax every chance you get.

Ananda is a small luxury hotel in the heart of Cartagena! Is an oasis! The staff is nice. Didn't like the breakfast! They should have more variety! And please give the gests more options particularly on fruit juices!
