“Pure luxury within the walled city!”
Reviewed July 27, 2010

I stayed at Casa Blanca byb for 3 days during my honeymoon in Colombia. I booked this boutique hotel because the pictures on their website won me over and the reviews on tripadviso attested to the quality of this hotel.
I had no idea what to expect when we arrived, however, as soon as they opened the door, I knew our stay was going to be great. The house itself is a combination of Colonial and modern architecture. The staff is super friendly and helpful. While we were doing our check-in I couldn't help but to admire the beautiful furniture and the tranquility of the whole place. We were offered the most amazing and delicious limonada con yerbabuena (it was to die for)! and were escorted to our room. The room was absolutly beautiful and spacious. The bathroom had an outdoor shower, beautiful jacuzzi tub and all sorts of quality toilet treats. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have slept on during my travels.
Breakfast was included and their little dining room is just another one of the rooms where you are completly awed by the decor. Food was delicious and again, service was excellent.
We didn't have a chance to go in the pool or take advantage of the amenities on the roof top, but they were also beautiful. the view from the terrace is amazing and transports you to a different era.
All in all, this hotel was EXCELLENT and the walled city was absolutly magical!

We had a two-night, three-day stay at the Casablanca and it was fantastic. The staff were kind and helpful. They were at our service at any time and for anything. Our flight was at night and they let us stay in our room until the late afternoon, hours past the check-out time. This may have been because they didn't need the room, but it was still a thoughtful touch. I wish the pool had been a little bit bigger, but it was still an amazing stay.

We had a fantastic three night stay in this immaculate hotel. Behind heavy wooden doors in the old part of the city, the large rooms are all off the central courtyard- plants, pools, wooden walkways- its lovely- ultra modern feeling decor wise but very natural too- hint of Arabic in the floors and partitions.

Breakfast was really good (All included and order from the menu- no congealing buffets here) and they are great about mixing and matching dishes.

The rooms are beautiful. They are all suits, huge beds plus sofas or recliners, all in immaculate white (Hotel is only a year old) One of the most comfy beds I have ever slept in. Huge bathrooms too. The rooms smelled really good all the time!

Casablanca B&B is not stuffy either, which boutique hotels can be- not at all pretentious (unlike the similarly priced but very clinical feeling hotel Tcherassi near by)

One problem was when we realised the pool on the roof was a boiling hot jacuzzi- not conducive to cooling off on a hot Caribbean afternoon. No problem though- staff were happy to make it cold!

Also what was great - there were no young children (young families seem to stay at the Santa Clara Sofital which is a big hotel, big pool, better for kids I imagine)

Only real complaint- they didn't have much info at the hotel for the tourist- i wanted to do a historic type tour of the city- they didn't have a clue... Also they have skylights in the rooms- make sure these are covered by staff before you go to sleep to avoid bright room in the morning.

But overall- fantastic

Stayed here for a night on a long weekend vacation to Cartagena. Everything about our stay was great. The lobby was beautiful and chic as was the first floor pool. The rooms were huge, well appointed and very clean. The bathrooms ever more impressive. The rooftop was great for chilling out with a cocktail and a dip in the jacuzzi. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. This place is an amazing value for the level of service and quality of rooms.

It is difficult to believe there was only a few reviews - I think because its mainly spanish speakers who stayed here. Possibly one of the best hotel rooms I have stayed in whilst travelling (particuarly at this price point)

We checked in as our first night had been a bad experience at El Marquis (overpriced, poor service, cheap finishes) and checked out after one night. We happened across this whilst walking the town the next day. Prices in Cartagena are high across the board for hotels and B&B's in the old town and having rang to find most of the Lonely Planet ones booked out.

On arrival we were upgraded from a standard room to a junior suite (so this review refers to that level of room, which was on the ground floor). you walk to the room across water and surrounded by palms. Everything is painted white (which they will need to work to keep up). The room is HUGE, with a massive bathroom of exposed original wall and 2 person sized shower. Large 110cm plasma and backlit bed.

At night there is a turndown service and they light the candles along the pathway to the rooms

Its really hard to fault the place - the only small one may be the free wifi only works near reception. And perhaps in a year or 2 the tough tropical weather may wear on the white, but for now, it would be my only choice in Cartagena at this price - leave La Passion and the Charleston out.

The porpouse of my trip was strictly business, I was going to be in Cartagena for three days and in Bogota for a whole week, including the weekend. But I fell in love with the old city right away and changed my flight, spend a little bit more cash and stayed in cartagena for a whole week. My business trip became a lesiure one, and now I can say that everything was worth it, such a magical place, such beautiful people, the food is wonderful and the hotel was: breathtaking. It was surprise after surprise; the city and the hotel. The hotel is so private, so personal, that Id definitely would come back. And the service was wonderful, inside the hotel everything was perfect. Maybe the city does have some things Id definitely would change like the vendors were soo exhaustingly anoying, and the city is not that clean; but inside the hotel I felt in paradise. Besides its so romantic, that I am going back with my whole family! haha
Highly reccommended!
