Despite the absence of a pool, there are plenty of places to relax in this hotel: the beautiful air-conditioned lobby, the breakfast courtyard and, our favorite one at night, the rooftop terrace with a view to the cathedral.

I mentioned our second stay in that hotel and they later moved us to a bigger room at no extra charge.

We were there for the Cartagena Film Festival so the location couldn't be better.

Breakfast is good. Some guests don't know but they can also prepare eggs for you: scrambled, omelette, with vegetables, ham or mushrooms. They can also cook the delicious "arepa de huevo" for you, which is part of the Caribbean Colombian cuisine. It's already included in the price you pay for the room.

I talked to the manager about staying again but in a more expensive balcony room and she promised us a discount.

We stayed at the Delirio hotel during our work stay for the Film Festival and were hoping to find a hotel in which to relax and be comfortable after a long day working. The hotel had below average amenities and poor costumer service. First we arrived jet-lagged early in the morning and they didn't let us into our room until 3:30 and the only place to relax in the hotel is on the terrace with no shade in the burning sun. Once we were finally allowed into our room they showed us to a tiny room with a sink in the main bedroom bit. There were three of us staying in a room and with the three beds we and oursuitcases didn't fit. We had booked a suite with a balcony specifically to fit all three of us, when we asked to see the suite we were meant to be in they insisted that the suite was smaller than the room they had put us in. We insisted to see our originally booked suite which turned out to be much bigger and nicer and eventually we were moved into the room we had originally paid for.

The breakfast were completely unremarkable, go across the road for a much nicer breakfast. Upon leaving they asked us to pay pur taxes which we already had done and they insisted we hadn't. When we finally proved that we had already paid the taxes they brought up a bill from our room charging us 25,000 pesos for 3 bottles of water ( an outrageous sum to pay for water) when we had ordered just one. This whole saga caused us to be late in our taxi to the airport and it was a bad ending to an equally bad beginning. From the start they tried to scam us, making us pay for a suite and giving us a tiny internal suffocating room to trying to get us to pay $90 dollars of taxes twice over.

The rooms are modern and well air conditioned but nothing special or original. There is no swimming pool, some sun loungers are available with no shade on the terrace. Lovely location.

We have stayed at the pricy, elegant Charleston Santa Teresa Hotel (a historic converted convent in Cartagena), and enjoyed its amenities, including a roomy rooftop pool. But it was our time at the much-sparer, contemporary Delirio Hotel that we will remember far more fondly for the warmth and personal attention of the staff (Alexa, Elson, Carolina and Ernesto, in particular), the twilight view of the cathedral tower from our balcony, and the extra effort to meet our small requests. We arrived after the usual dinner hour too exhausted to track down a place to eat. Would the hotel be able to send us a chilled bottle of Chardonnay? Yes, they would. They dispatched a staffer to a nearby wine store, there was a knock our door, and there sat the wine in a sweating ice bucket. Could we order from room service? Well, there was no room service. But they would send a staffer to the tidy Mila cafe for us. Soon a platter of tender salad greens with warm seafood arrived at the door. So we sat out in the gathering evening on our balcony, sipping our wine and tucking into our salad, watching the horse-drawn carriages clop by down below.
Yes, we have stayed in more lavishly appointed rooms. And we have stayed in hotels with far longer menus of services. And at far steeper rates! But at Delirio after sundown we'd stroll down the fifth floor hallway out to the rooftop terrace and relax in the balmy night, even falling fast asleep out there one evening. (They might lure more guests to the terrace during the day if they had a sun shade, a canopy or whatnot.)
As some other reviewers have mentioned, the rooms are compact; not exactly copious. So if it is within your budget, you might want to consider one of the rooms with a balcony over Iglesia Street on the third, fourth or fifth floor. Regardless, the location is absolutely central in the Old City. And while we have stayed in more spacious accommodations in Cartagena, we could not have wished at Delirio for a warmer welcome, or a larger or kinder heart.

Though well located in the historical center it is a very average hotel. The accommodations are tired, rooms are small and no place to relax outside from the blazing sun. Breakfast average. Reception on the second floor. In desperate need of refreshing. Most of all, there is no 'No Smoking' policy, so one easily ends up in a room that has been fumigated by the previous guests.

We stayed for five nights while in town for a friend's wedding. We loved the hotel, and would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat. The hotel itself is lovely and an excellent location--right in the heart of the old city, exactly where you want to be. The overall small size felt nice and intimate. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a nice bed, nice shower, very strong A/C and great WiFi. Small safes in the rooms for passports/valuables. The breakfast is good. There is no pool, but there is a beautiful roof deck with great views, comfortable seating and an outdoor shower. The staff was universally helpful and kind. We loved it, and would definitely come back.

Room Tip: Our room on the fourth floor, facing the back, was very quiet. I imagine the street-facing rooms are...

This is a nice small hotel located in the heart of Cartagena. It's only a 5 minute walk to the wall to watch the sun go down. It's also nicely situated close to all the main attractions of the old city. The hotel staff is nice and courteous. The room was a decent size with a great shower (not that you spend that much time in your room) and the bed was decently comfortable. You'd be hard pressed to find a comparable hotel at a comparable price.

Room Tip: Try to get a room off of the main lobby which can be a bit loud at night.

This hotel is romantic, and it is situated right in the middle of the very romantic old walled city of Cartagena. Taxis may have trouble finding it, but let them know it is near the Cathedral.

We loved the whitewashed walls and ceilings incorporating many of the elements of the original, historical structure into a modern design, which has a very pleasing aesthetic. The hotel feels trendy and chic, with bright orange colors scattered throughout. We also found there were a number of areas the hotel could improve. We have listed the pros and cons below.

Pros:
Location, location, location
Excellent service
Great staff
Trendy
Spacious rooms
Amazing luxury shower with rain shower head
Huge TVs in the rooms with DirectTV
Great AC
Soft toilet paper
High quality bath towels and soaps/shampoos
Reasonable price for Cartagena's old city
Free and good WIFI
Rooms smell clean
Easy-to-use safe

Cons:
Some cleanliness issues (linens had stains; replacement linens also had stains)
Minor maintenance issues (some of the orange couch pillows appeared moldy)
Beds were uncomfortable
Very small toilet area
Disappointing breakfast
Few amenities (no fitness room, no pool, very small sun deck)
Very little table-top/desk space

All things considered, we recommend this hotel to fellow travelers.
