“What a gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2014

I stayed at Casa Sweety for a week at the end of February. The staff were all very pleasant and accommodating. Carolina was very professional and helped me organize a few excursions. The other lady that works the desk when Carolina isn't there (sorry, I can't remember her name) was so friendly and always a pleasure to have conversation with. Breakfast included coffee, fresh juice, fruit, eggs, and toast or pancakes or arepas. My room was comfortable with cold air conditioning and hot water (was spotty at times). The safe was a little tricky to master. The great thing about Casa Sweety is the awesome location! It's a 10 minute walk to the walled city and docks where the boats leave for the beaches. Plaza de la Trinidad is a 1 minute walk up the street. I spent most evenings there eating, having a drink, people watching, and talking to other travelers. On Sunday nights they have this free huge Zumba class in the plaza. Plenty of restaurants and convenience stores are close by, and Cafe Havana is across the street. The fort is short walk away as well, maybe 15-20 minutes. I can go on and on about how special this boutique hotel is. I fell in love with Cartagena on my visit and hope to visit again this year. I already know where I'll be staying when I return.

A beautiful small boutique hostel in a lively neighbourhood full with restaurants and bars and close to old historic city. Including a nice little swimmingpool to relax. Delicious breakfast served by Friendly staff who make your stay even more worth!

This was the first time I was ever disappointed by a place picked from the trip advisor reviews and we were really really disappointed!! There was one review which I should have listened to which sums it up- this is a HOSTEL not a hotel. The pool area looked a lot nicer in the photos but the reality was much smaller, with plastic chairs and beside the grotty dark kitchen/reception area- definitely not a relaxing spot (have added some photos to show what I mean). Our room was cheaply decorated with a strange smell and no natural light unless you wanted to open the curtains directly onto the ground floor pool. The breakfast was very basic. From the moment we arrived we were anxious to leave as quickly as possible- aside from the area, the only positive was that they did let us cancel our booking for the last two nights and we happily moved to the lovely casa Lola across the street. While Cartagena is expensive, US$131 per night for our stay here was a complete rip-off and a real holiday disappointment. If you want any sort of basic hotel stay- avoid this property.

We booked 2 night in a standar double room, once there they give you a room without window, in a fake second foor, which was really warm , ( is Cartagena and the avarege temperature is 30 degree).
We ask for a room with window and they said that there was and extra cost for those kind of rooms. =(((

Beside that the location is perfect, is just in the heard of Getsemani, the staff is really nice and breakfast is standar but the make it just infront of you at the moment you eat it

This place is fantastic! The staff were very attentive to my needs. Rooms are really clean and nice. They offer different breakfast varieties everyday so you won't get tired of eating the same thing every morning for the duration of your stay. The hotel is in a good location as there were popular landmarks around like Cafe Havana. My favorite part was the rooftop where you can see a panoramic view of the city. The kitchen is pretty awesome too! (I have kitchen fetish).

I picked Casa Sweety because of the raving reviews about the staff. It was then very disappointing when one of the staff members tricked us. When we arrived there, we had no idea about local surrounding, etc so we asked Carolina about recommendations for budget restaurants since we were on a tight budget. She recommended one restaurant that she claimed was cheap with great food. When we got there, we were surprised to see the prices but decided to trust Carolina since we didn't know much about restaurant prices in Cartagena. Not only was the food mediocre but it was a complete rip-off since they charged all sorts of surcharges and what not! I am sure Carolina receives commission from them! It spoiled our whole trip because we ended up spending so much on a horrible lunch the first day and didn't have as much money for other days.

The room itself was OK. Fairly clean, the AC worked, and they cleaned the bathroom every day. There was a lizard in the room. Monica was nice and helpful. I just wish Carolina hadn't tricked us and spoiled our trip for us:(

We stayed at Casa Sweety for 3 nights to begin our Colombian adventure and we couldn't have been more pleased with our choice. Laura, the receptionist (not sure of her title!) made our stay the best it could be ... giving us advice on where to go, what to see, and how to get there. She happily booked our bus for our next stop. We stayed in the small room just off the lobby and it was great for all intensive purposes. The location is perfect, just a few minutes walk from the walled city with loads of restaurants nearby. Our room was always clean and tidy no matter what time we came back to the Casa. The pool was refreshing after a walk in the hot sun. We didn't have the free breakfast that was offered due to sleeping in late, or taking pills that don't allow us to eat for a while ... I would highly recommend this beautiful, well kept Casa again, and we were really happy with our choice. Thank you Laura, for making our stay perfect, and for all of your help!!

Room Tip: If we return to Casa Sweety, we would choose a room opposite the pool on the main floor, just for ex...
