We loved Sims Cozy Garden! It's definietly one of the best if not the best hostel we have ever been to!
Great spacial solutions, oriented to fullfill all the needs a traveller may have. Really wonderfull!
And staff is very very helpful and nice!
This kind of hostel in which you may spent whole day in - instead of going sightseeing - just because of the atmosphere (though we went out to see the city and we could always count on them with very helpful tips and directions).
Love you guys!

This place is trading on past reputation. Everything was disappointing.
The staff seem to be always tired, they don t want to explain anything, every time you ask something they make you feel you re disturbing them.
Rooms are not good value for money.
Snobbish atmosphere.
I booked the trip to Tibet with them: absolutely disappointing.

Great place, really big and has a good chill out lobby area indoors and outdoors. All the staff speak pretty good English and are always helpful. The food is overpriced for what it is and you'll find almost the same stuff in Chinese restaurants nearby, except of course the Western Menu.

Stayed on the 4th floor dorm room, which are cleaned every morning. Beds are comfortable and the dorm rooms are probably some of the best I've stayed in during China.

Travel desk downstairs is also helpful with information or train tickets and only charge a 20 yuan commission.

Paid 45 Yuan for the dorm in August 2013

All the staff were amazingly helpful. We were stuck in chengdu due to the landslides and the hostel helped us book flights out to Jiuzhaigou. The first night we stayed in a dorm, this was filthy, it had been raining heavily and the ceiling was leaking, the room had not been cleaned, toilet was small. We then moved to a private room, the room again was small but the bed was comfy. After 6 months of living in china I understand that bathrooms are small and shower is usually next to the toilet, but this was ridiculous, you literally shower over the toilet. We went to the bar for dinner, we sat upstairs on the red sofas and the ceiling looke like it was crumbling..... This place needs some TLC badly. On top of that we saw cockroaches running around and that was enough for us to go back to our room and luckily we were leaving the next day. Couldn't cope!!!

This is an excellent hostel in China, the staff, the place, everythig, but they are working together with a vert bad travel agency in Tibet, so arrange your trip to Tibet not with them. Here is the letter I wrote to them after our trip:
Hi, Kevin,
maybe you remember us, we are the 4 Hungarians, who were 23-31. of July in Tibet with one of the travel agency what you recommended, with the travel agency "A". Please don't recommend this agency other tourists. It was a horror, what we had to go trough. The "guide" seemed to be nice first, but after few days we saw, that he is totally uninformed and he was getting very agressive and rude, when we disapprove of something. He never informed us when something was happened, only after it, when we asked him. Our permit was wrong. The expiry date was not good (30. July) so we had to wait 3 hours at the Kodari border, when we wanted to go to Nepal. The soldiers sad it would be better to choice another agency. The guide called always his boss, but when I wanted to speak to him, he sad that its not possible. After 3 hours we asked the soldiers to call the Hungarian Ambessy and only after it could we cross the border.
The guide didn't inform us, that he droped out some programs (Romphuk monastery) and when we asked about it, he answered, it was closed this time. He told us in Shigatse that we have to wait him till 10:30, cozz he has to arrange something with our permit, so I asked him, how can we see the monastery in Shigatse. He began to cry with me: "what monastery in Shigatse? (I was thinking on the Tashilhunpo monastery) I try to arrange everything and nothing is good for you." I told him that he had to arrange the papers so that we don't have to wait for it. If he could something arrange alone, why we have to wait for him? He didn't answered, he cried! I never met such young man who was so unpolite with me like this guy. Next day he came to our hotel and told us, that his boss had offered to see the Tashilhunpo monastery while he is arranging our permit. Ya, but we have lost soon many hours.
You informed us before, that the tickets are not include. But it was also not include in the horror 2883 juan price, that the guide didn't give us correct information about the booking at the Potala palace. We were to late there so it was a very good luck that we could book ticket for after tomorrow.
Cozz of the permanent permit problems (the permit was not good to the kodari border) we went very late to the Everest BC. This day the weather was beautiful. We asked the guys, the driver and the guide not to sit in the restaurant more than an hour, but they didn't listen to us. So we arrived the BC at night, and we couldn't see the Everest close up. This one hour was missing. Next day there was raining and snowing and had to get from BC. We were in BC in a tent (it was great) but the driver and the guide were also there and the whole night, till 12 am they listened to music and spoke laudly. Some of us were sick and tired but they did not care of it.
Tibet is beautiful and extremly expensive, so please take care of the travel agencies you work together! That is why I wrote this letter.
Best regards,
Erzsebet

Room Tip: There is on the 4 floor not wifi in the room.
