We think ibis hotels in china are good value for money although staff do not tend to more than they have too! We asked for close by restaurants and they directed us to get taxi to kfc haha we were not interested in kfc so they explained where local place was....the problem is we were told to walk over the bridge but it was actually a tunnel under which we didn't even notice haha eventually we realised we were on the wrong side and crossed at the lights and walked back and ate one of the best meals we had in china....even though the staff didn't speak a work of english which is all we speak! When we returned we explained and the poor girls didn't understand! We came to chengdu to see the pandas and it was worth the trip amazing place! next time we hope to go for longer and go out of the city over night on tours to some of the other amazing sites in the area!

We stayed here because of a planned visit to the Panda Research Centre. When we arrived the receptionist said we were booked at the other Ibis hotel in Chengdu. As my husband who had been based in Chengdu, was able to give proof our booking, this caused a flurry of activity to sort the rooms. We had asked for a no smoking room, and it was obvious the last occupants had ignored this. Luckily we were able to be offered another room. The hotel is located close to main roads, arriving late at night, it was difficult to tell whether it was a good location or not.

I am overall very satisfied with the hotel.
Pros:
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Really sweet girls working at the front desk.
The rooms were very clean and the AC works well.
Great breakfast for 25 renmibi.

Cons:
The rooms are somewhat small with old furniture.
Location is not that great and need to take a cab to get anywhere and depending on your luck, you may/may not get a cab. I actually ended up moving to a different hotel the last night because I had a 5:30 am flight to catch and didn't trust that I would get a cab that early in the morning.

Overall, very satisfied with my stay since it was cheap and even though the staff barely spoke English, they really wanted to help.

We have used IBIS a lot in Europe, and were pleased to find IBIS are also in China. Their greatest asset is the 100% reliability of their cleanliness and functionality. This was even more the case in China, where local hotels have rooms that are typically big, empty, not very clean, and with various broken item (oh, and invariably bathrooms that flood). IBIS was always splotless, had functioning air-conditioning, so a good night's sleep was assured. And of course, the prices are great.

Standard Ibis room so far OK. Part of the friendly staff at the Reception spoke well English.
At the Bar the staff don't understand any English and refuse to take 50 or 100 RMB notes while the 6 days I stayed. Lays chips for 15 RMB, wow, well calculated. At 7/11 they charge around 4 RMB. Simple drinking water as well far overpriced. This all in relation to the 209-229 RMB (weekend).
Internet, extremely slow, Air-con 24C, can rise in the night to 27C. After a note on the desk I received the Message from the GM that this is done by law, 24-26 C in summer time for public places.
Laundry service work from day to day, but you get it not ironed.
I used this place for a Business Trip and have to find out that nothing will be comfortable for Business persons at this location. Convenience stores or similar and Restaurants/Bars etc. are not available in short distance. Taxi needed.
Hard to get a Taxi as the Hotel Entrance is beside the Bridge with the Main road.
Over all, even local and cheaper chains like Motel 7 or others have individual Air-con units in their rooms and faster Internet. Convenience stores, Restaurants, Fast food chains etc. are always around. Experience in whole China. Very disappointing from an International Brand, belonging to ACCOR Group which has great Hotels like SOFITEL.
I recommend all to stay in the Haiyatt Hotel (not Hyatt!). Stay 4* and feel like in a 5*!
