I only stayed one night here but would have loved to have stayed longer. The room was lovely with some nice 'Tibetan' touches. The prayer wheel rotated to reveal the TV! Huge bathroom with separate shower with loads of towels, shampoos etc. Helpful reception staff and breakfast perfectly adequate.Very happy to stay here again

This hotel is in a very central location in Chengdu, but there is little noise problems and is a very well designed modern hotel.
Service was impeccable and the hotel was clean, well placed for shopping and rooms were very comfortable indeed.
Highly recommend to anyone travelling to Chengdu capital.

Overall, this was the best hotel we stayed at in Western China. They had a dedicated non smoking floor and well maintained rooms. Other reviewers mentioned noise coming from the train or streets, but we did not have this issue. We had two rooms on the 10th floor that were on both sides of the hallway facing different directions...both were quiet.

Service at checkin and baggage was friendly. Rooms were clean and well maintained. Huge bathrooms with separate glass door enclosed toilets.

Breakfast was biggest disappointment. Mostly Asian foods and poorly managed egg station. Would go elsewhere if it wasn't included.

Location isn't central but we had a driver so it was no big deal for us. If you are walking, prepare for more distance to get to downtown.

Built and furnished in some style but now very worn and tired. The only good thing about this hotel was a large and very comfortable bed; a curious smell pervaded the place, the air conditioning didn’t work properly, the single glazed widows (sometimes ill-fitting) did little to keep out the noise (and we were on the quiet side of the building), the pop-up sink waste was broken, the water was only just hot but not hot enough, the service very poor (we ordered some milk to enjoy a proper cup of tea but it took three orders, the second and third in Chinese by our guide, and the intervention of the manager, before it arrived!), little spoken English was available either at reception or in the restaurants, particularly if you wanted to complain!.
It spoke volumes for the food that almost all residents ate elsewhere: on the first and second nights we shared the restaurant with two other diners, the Chinese restaurant was similarly patronised, while the ‘grill’ only opened when they had a reservation, we dined there in glorious isolation on the third night. But the hotel was busy as witnessed by the scrimmage for breakfast. An extensive buffet of rather poor quality lukewarm food with little provision for the western traveller. The fruit juice was diluted squash; the fresh fruit out of a tin, the coffee machine prone to breakdown, the service slow so that at busier times there were no clean tables available, and the replenishment of empty dishes slow at best, nonexistent at worst.
The final insult came on checking out; despite my checking and receiving confirmation that I was being billed in Yuan they processed the credit card payment in pounds without authorisation and at a rate advantageous to themselves.
The Tibet Hotel is desperately in need of renovation and rejuvenation. With over a thousand hotels in Chengdu I can think of little reason for wanting to stay here.

I stayed here for 9 months. It had its moments but generaly a good htel. It does help to check in slightly earlier as the better rooms go first, the later you arive the better the chance of getting what I called the closet (there are some rooms with no wondows).

Room Tip: Check in early and ask for 701

A very good, modern hotel with plenty of facilities. We spent 2 nights in room 901 which was absolutely huge and included a sparkling bathroom with bath and walk-in shower - it was more of a Junior Suite, complete with sofa. All very clean. Breakfast - both content and service - was disastrous but overall you won't go far wrong here.

Room Tip: Location is on a busy road (they're all busy in Chinese cities!) so ask for a room on the highes...
