Description: It’s easy to see why The Bookworm is such a hit among both locals and foreigners in Chengdu; where else can you spend savouring fabulous international food, browsing thousands of books, sipping good espresso, being regaled by eminent authors, catching up with friends over your favourite meal, or simply just checking your emails? The spacious, interconnecting rooms with floor-to-ceiling books on every wall are light and airy in summer, yet cosy and snug in winter.

“The Best Books in Town and the food is not bad either”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

If you need a book and western meal fix I highly recommend this taste of home restaurant and book shop. Hundreds if not thousands of books can be borrowed and new books can be bought. The food is okay, especially the spaghetti. The servers speak English very well and the food is good and plentiful. The coffee is great too. There is always a lot of activity here and it's a great place to hang out with other foreigners, eat, and chat. It's a popular place to meet and eat.

“Cozy and Accomodating”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

I went to Bookworm twice during my 10 day stay in Chengdu. The atmosphere is lovely and pleasant, the food is great and you can enjoy your time having a look at the books and using the free wi-fi. Try the fish and chips!

“Excellent atmosphere but avoid ordering too much food.”
Reviewed September 27, 2012

The Bookworm is very cozy and has the feel of many big city coffee houses/cafes that allow you to waste several hours doing whatever you please. The enormous English book and magazine collection can captivate you for hours alone. There is often live music which adds to the atmosphere and there is free wi-fi as well.
Getting a cup of tea is probably the best value because they will continue to refill it as long as you are there, but expect to pay twice what you would at any local tea house. The food is very well done but it can be quite pricey depending on what you order.

“Better and better”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

The Bookworm gets better! Sunday brunch is a most welcome addition. Ham and pumpkin very delicious and brussels sprouts done just right. A Bloody Mary supreme!
A new treat is the ice cream cookies. These may be the best in the world!
