This is really a huge hostel/hotel. We appreciated the very reasonable restaurant and the free wifi in the common room. The rooms were nothing special, but we slept well and the sheets towels were clean. The subway is close (right out the door), and it is easy to catch the bus. The staff were very good at English and super helpful. Would probably stay here again because of the food and location.

We stayed in Chengdu for 3 nights on September 2012. The hotel is located close to Luomashi Line 1 subway station. The staff is friendly, helpful and speaks good english. We had to change our initial plans and we had no problem in extending our stay for 1 more night.

We booked the deluxe twin room with ensuite bathroom with western-style toilet and a shower. There were free towels provided but there werent any other ammenities. The room had air-conditioner. hairdryers were placed in the halls for free use. There was a flat screen tv and a dirty water boiler that we didnt use.

The cleaning stuff was horrible. They didnt change the bed linens neither they cleaned the room. They only changed our bath towels and provided very few toilet paper.

The breakfast was not included but you could buy breakfast and room. The living room was nice and had a good atmosphere.

The reception was ok, with books and guides to borrow and computers (1 RMB for 10 minutes of use).

They offer free luggage storage in a room near the reception.

To save money on our recent adoption trip, we booked 2 rooms at this hostel instead of at the agency's overpriced hotel.

The staff all speaks good English and were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant food was good, not expensive and very convenient. We got 2 private rooms. The one my husband and I stayed in was very small, but adequate and had a private bathroom, a/c, a bed that was *maybe* queen sized, flat screen TV with cable (with one or two English channels), and an electric water boiler. Our sons (who are teenagers) stayed in a slightly larger room with 2 single beds and all the same amenities as our room.

Wifi is only available in the common room. It was often times hard to get access to the wifi because there were always people streaming video - eating up all the bandwith. There was a pool table inside and a ping pong table outside. A wii was also available to use and there was a small TV. If you want to access facebook, you can rent time on some PC's at the hostel. It cost about US$1 for an hour of use.

We stayed a week and the cleaning staff could have done a better job cleaning. The bed linens were not changed the whole time, but at least the bath towels were changed daily. I don't think the floor in our room was ever swept while we were there. There are washers available for use for a reasonable fee. Clothes are dried on clotheslines on the roof (which also has a garden - albeit a bit overgrown and neglected - but still charming)

The hostel arranges tours, but we didn't utilize this service because our adoption agency had already arranged outings for us (which we had paid for in advance of our trip). They also have a dumpling party every Friday night (which we missed, unfortunately).

Regardless of the shortcomings, for the value and hospitality, I would not hesitate staying here again. The location is very central and convenient. The subway is literally right outside the door, the Bank of China is a short walk away (ATM and money exchange), the People's Park and Tianfu Square is also within walking distance. Good place to stay if traveling with older children.

Stayed between 21 August to 26 th August . Two night in a dorm and two night in a single queen size bed. Value for money and am happy with both beds. There is a nice paper lantern on both rooms . The bar/ restaurant (non smoking ) is a great place to meet new friends and chill out . Separated by a glass wall is the open air courtyard (smoking) with plenty of plants. Nice place to have your morning breakfast/ coffee and enjoy the morning sun. Spacious open air garden on the 4 th floor to dry your laundry. Dont expect a swimming pool or gym though . :p
Special thanks and appreciation to Jennifer , Miss Bar tender (Mary I believe that is her name ..make the best gin tonic  ) and Pearl. Very friendly , helpful, provide good information ,resourceful yet efficient . Wish every hostels have staff such as them . The panda tour which I signed up with Lazy Bones is amazing and they don’t rush you. We( with some newly met friends) decide to visit certain place using public transport and they willingly provide the information .
Just a small suggestion. Usually during day time they seem to had 2 or 3 staffs at the reception. From my few encounters I found that they only handle one guest at a time. Maybe the others are busy with the backroom or paper work . I believe that is would be more efficient if they could attend to at least 2 guests at a time.
Would definitely stay in Lazybones if I do come back Chengdu

Room Tip: For rmb50 a night for dorm bed it is real value for money if you are on long term traveling . I rath...

We stayed at this hostel for three nights in June - we decided to go for a 4 bed mixed dorm as the 2 beds were full up but we only actually had someone else in the room with us on one of the nights. The room is really modern with curtains and a reading lamp, good air con and a very modern bathroom with a nice shower. It was the most westernised of the rooms we stayed in (for some people that is a bad thing so thought I'd mention it!).

The food is really good in the hostel and the staff are super nice. They also have two ginger cats who are very friendly and cute! We went to see the panda reserve with the Hostel and were given of plenty time to look around etc. The only thing I didn't like is having to stay in a group. We had limited time though so having the getting there and back part pre-arranged was helpful.

The hostel itself is down a side street from the main part of town. Chengdu, if you haven't been there, is crazy. Beijing seems like a village in comparison! Be prepared to spend 45 minutes trying to do 2 miles in a taxi! I would avoid taxis around commuting time, it was ridiculous. Official taxis have little pandas on them though which is a nice novelty if you are as immature as me!

Oh I should also add that the hostel try and arrange lots of free activities in the evenings like cooking etc which was fun and a good way to meet people!

We visited lazy bones in July 2012, and it was a great place to base ourselves after a long light from Australia.

Helpful staff organized a side trip to Leshan to see the giant the Buddha and the Pandas.
Central location and easy to get to from the Airport and train/bus stations.
