“A good place to get a idea of the history of Shandong Province.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2013

The museum in a building of only a few years old is located in the eastern part of Jinan. You can get there by city bus or by taxi. There is no admittance cost.
To the right of the lobby is an office were you can rent headphones for an audio guide to the museum. Each room is dedicated to a particular historical period from early human inhabitants to the middle ages. In each room, certain important exhibits have Chinese and English signs and there is a section of corresponding tape to listen to.
It is a nice place to spend a rainy afternoon.

“An Outstanding Collection”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2012

This new museum offers a great look at ancient Chinese art. There are galleries exhibiting ceramics, bronzes, statues, calligraphy, textiles and history. Although there isn't much English signage, the works are stunning. There is a good audio guide in English if you want a deeper context for the masterpieces you'll see.

Admission is free if you present your passport or id card.

CLOSED on Mondays.
