A wonderful and overwhelming experience. Highly recommend it for a visit to China. We traveled with China Focus and would highly recommend a trip with this group.

We used Bryan Bay as our guide while in Xian, and he was wonderful. We had a limited time in Xian, but wanted to see the Terra Cotta Warriors. Bryan, with his excellent driver, picked us up at the hotel promptly at 8:00 am. He skillfully guided us through the museum all the while telling us historical and interesting facts. After the tour, he took us to the train station where he stayed with us until he made sure we had our train tickets and knew where to go. Bryan is knowledgeable, dependable, speaks excellent English, and made the short time we spent in Xian very memorable. He's an excellent guide, and has our highest recommendation.

I've been to the Terra Cotta Warrior museum on a number of occasions while on business in Xi'an. Xi'an is a bit out of the way, but definitely worth the trip!

There is an "orientation" movie in English where the story of the soldiers is told in a 360 degree theater. Be sure to visit this before continuing on to see the museum.

I have had three guides on different occasions and they varied from great to poor. If you read up on the museum before your visit you can probably get along just as well as having a guide. In some of the museum, the guides are not allowed to accompany you, so you are on your own in the museum anyway.

While in Xi'an, don't miss a visit to the BanPo Aboriginal village - a 10,000 year old excavation in downtown Xi'an. Also, one of the best things to do is to visit the Muslim Quarter. This is located in the center of Xi'an, just a block or so from the Drum Tower. Follow the street behind the Drum Tower one block and you are there. This is a wonderful place to stroll with lots of street vendors, interesting shops and a wonderful mix of people. With a little exploring you can find the oldest mosque in China.

We were part of a tour that visited Xian and the Terra Cotta Warriors. The discovery, the museum, the display, the ongoing archeology and reconstruction efforts are amazing. If I lived to be 200 and went back, they still might not be finished. It is a wonder to see. Try to read about it before you go.

No trip to Xi'an would be complete without seeing the Terra Cotta Warriors. It is very busy so be prepared for crowds of people. Also worth visiting the Terra Cotta factory to see how they make the replicas and to learn about the process.
