“I love this bar!”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

Service is great, gets really busy on the weekends. Food is good and reasonable. Sometimes we have to wait for a seat at the bar. Staff is friendly. If you want lousy food and like to pay NYC prices for drinks, head over to Bea McNally.

“Good Lobster for the Money - But You'd Better Bring Cash”
Reviewed April 7, 2013 via mobile

This no frills pub is located slightly off the beaten path (Exit 19 off of Route 80 and north a couple of miles on 517.) It offers a decent lobster dinner at a no frills price. That's what I go back for.

The front of the Pub is - well - a Pub that seems to be popular with locals, sports fans and weekend biker types. At least that's what I've seen. Don't be intimidated because I've seen families, couples and seniors, too.

In the rear of the building is a larger eating area decorated with taxadermied animals. Not my cup of tea but they're mounted well above your head so you can ignore them. The pasta dishes are good as are the burgers.

Services is friendly enough. They don't take credit cards so bring cash or expect to pay $3 to use an ATM.

“just the basics”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Well you have to know in advance that this place hasn't much to offer. That can be good if that's what you are looking for. We however were disappointed. The service was fine but the choices were limited to say the least. Salad was a basic iceberg lettuce type. Lobster and a dozen clams with a baked potato is what we shared. The clams were ok, and the lobster was meaty but slightly over cooked. The food also came just about all at once. We were with another couple and all in all there wasn't much room on the table. Don't get me wrong it's a decent enough place for the money if you just don't expect much going in.

“basic and good”
Reviewed December 13, 2012

This is the most basic type of eating establishment you can have. A very basic and limited menu, mostly pub-type food, but everything there is good. Great deal on clams, lobster & excellent sandwiches. Cash only, no credit cards or checks. Staff is extremly friendly. Only negative: Noise level is very high, and the place is loaded with heads mounted game animals staring at you. Worrth it, though, for the food and the prices!

“Not fancy... But you can't beat the price for shell fish!”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

We are regulars at Pub 517. The restaurant isn't fancy.... More of a sports bar style. But the clams are excellent. They offer king crab, snow crab and lobster at a price that can't be beat. many times they have large lobster that can be purchased as an up-charge. I usually get the king crab and the portion is huge. Shellfish is only served with a baked potato... So if you want a salad or vegetable it will be extra.
The only negatives I have is that it is a cash only establishment. They do have an ATM on premises with a $100 limit per transaction. If your group is larger you will get hit with 2 ATM fees they charge. Also, drinks are served in plastic cups. Not a big fan of that. Oops, forgot another thing that may bother some... The place is full of taxidermy and that may freak out some... Not me, but others are disturbed by that sort of thing.
Overall, I love the food and quick service!
