“Get your legs ready”
Reviewed April 25, 2013

This park is large and there is a lot to see. So, get your legs ready for a workout. If you climb the pagoda, it's I think at least 7 stories tall, so be prepared. But once you're at the top, the view is wonderful! There is a lot of history that comes with the temple that's very interesting. and of course, a love story! we always need more of those!

“Definitely a must in Zhenjiang”
Reviewed April 5, 2012

Jinshan Temple is a vast religious complex, densely built on several levels. Some pavilions are nicely decorated still witnessing the wealth of the temple. A pagoda on its top, initially built under the Songs (960-1279), later re-built in wood and bricks, can be climbed and allows an interesting look-out on the town and the Yangtze River.
Jinshan Temple is also famous in China for being one of the places where the legend of White Snake and Green Snake takes place. The famous monk Fahai, who opposed the wedding of Bai Suzhen, actually White Snake a supernatural creature changed into a young lady with a young man, was from Jinshan Temple...
Jinshan Temple is also a park in which it is simply very pleasant to walk. Most of the visitors are Chinese, some come by devotion, some are tourists, some are locals coming there to chat and relax.
Definitely a place to go.
